Our Founder-CEO Dr (Hon) S. Senthil Kandeepan inaugurated a brand-new block at the Vama Trust's daycare facility for the elderly in Sivasailam Tenkasi on Thursday, 7 November. Named after their daughter, the ‘Vanshika Block’ has been entirely funded by Dr. Kandeepan and Healthwatch director and CFO, CA.Jayasri Kandeepan. The infrastructure addition will be of immense help to the senior daycare centre, which serves over 70 senior citizens on weekdays, and over 150 on weekends. “This is the kind of work, more than any material success, that I’m always the most proud of,” said Dr. Kandeepan, going on to add, “which is why, I don’t see it as an act of charity, but rather as a glorious opportunity to give something back to society.” #daycare #seniorcare #vamatrust #csr #wellbeing #socialservice #healthwatchcsr

Ideally your sister should not need your protection, but is that the reality? As incidents of rape and sexual assault on women continue to rage, it’s time to ask the question to all men: are we doing enough to protect women? This doesn’t have to be only deus-ex-machina heroics, but on an everyday basis, are we doing the little things? When someone eve-teases on the street, are we condemning it enough? When a man – even your friend – makes an inappropriate joke or comment at a woman, do we tell them it’s wrong instead of laughing and shrugging it off as harmless? Do we spend enough time teaching men how to behave with women from an early age? Or are we waiting for women to do these too? This Raksha Bandhan, it’s high time men took the initiative and the responsibility to stop other men from objectifying and oppressing women to vent their regressive instincts and sexual repression and perversities. It’s time men gave the raksha they promised as a part of the bandhan they enjoy with one half of humanity.
