With the global generative AI market projected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 42%, AI has become a big market for investors. In India, funding for generative AI startups has already reached $760 million in the first half of 2024, showcasing the rapid growth and potential of this sector. Key trends in India’s AI landscape include declining hardware and software costs, access to high-quality domain-specific data, and increased demand due to productivity benefits. Challenges include the need for substantial data and computing resources, reliance on big tech models, and the risk of commoditization as AI becomes cheaper. Consequently, India is home to more than 100 GenAI startups and these startups have raised more than $700 Mn since 2019. India’s GenAI market is expected to see a major boom in the coming years and is projected to cross the $17 Bn mark by 2030.
