On Saturday, October 12, 2024, CGS employees volunteered at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve in Princeton, NJ https://lnkd.in/eVVhJpAi. They focused on riparian restoration, invasive plant species removal, and fall cleanup. Guided by the Friends of Princeton Open Space (FOPOS) staff, CGS employees removed invasive plants, engaged in fall-cleanup and forest restoration at the Preserve. Restoring riparian zones is essential for stabilizing the soil, enhancing water quality, and fostering biodiversity. In the face of climate change, these ecosystems play a critical role in reducing flood risks, sequestering carbon, and regulating local microclimates. This initiative highlights how corporate volunteer programs can promote environmental stewardship and foster community spirit. FOPOS plays a crucial role in maintaining local natural areas and offers ongoing volunteer opportunities for conservation efforts.
