It’s deeply heartbreaking to learn about what happened to #AnnaSebastianPerayil As a father, professional, and now fortunate enough to lead the next generation of India, I find myself searching for words. After reading #AnitaAugustine's letter, my heart aches even more! But I feel the need to confront a fundamental issue - the pervasive culture of #70hoursaweek that seems to have taken root. India is now the 5th largest economy in the world and is ambitiously working towards becoming the 3rd. Yet, at what personal cost are we achieving this? In my earlier days, weekends were not guaranteed. I have worked many Sundays, reflecting on the opportunities today’s young generation now has. When things changed, I was happy and relieved! From 6 to 5 days a week - what has changed? 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. No government intervention was needed to teach us the basic principles of managing time, money, and resources. It was up to organizations to learn and implement these practices. So why do some organizations still struggle with these fundamentals? ↳ 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 ↳ 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 ↳ 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 Is this too complex? For some #Micromanagers, it seems so! So, do we have a flexible work culture? - Yes! Does it create chaos? - No! Do our employees take it for granted? - Absolutely not! I envisioned this from the beginning, but it didn’t happen overnight! We learned to listen to our people’s struggles, encouraged open dialogue, and sought solutions that benefit everyone. If a startup like ours can achieve this, why can’t others? Why can’t we all be a little more compassionate and considerate? What has happened to Anna and others is not acceptable.
