Scroll through and see, whether you are an engineer or not, you’ll find a few surprising perspectives in here.   And, to all the engineers in our world and the world, thank you for everything you do – imagine, design, engineer and create our world!    #CUMI #Materialsscience #Engineersday

This month we met up with Sarfraz Yusuf Gadkari. He handles manufacturing, technology and new business development for CUMI Prodorite and Composite. After graduating in Mechanical Engineering from L&T Institute of Technology, he handled quality control for composites in Saudi Arabia. Over the course of the next 14 years, he gained vast experience in this field. He joined Carborundum Universal Limited in 2015 to help with new business development for Wear Composites, and has been with us for almost a decade. His eyes light up when you speak about Theoretical Physics. He loves this pure science and has spent a significant part of the last two decades reading and watching documentaries about this subject. Another area where his two worlds align is that he gets to help with new product development, which is something that he loves. Sarfraz believes in listening first and reacting later, and that people should get an equal shot at everything. These are two things that are very important to him. Like others, there have been times when he has questioned his career choices. He recalls an instance when he was working on a large-scale futuristic project that was much delayed. It was at this point that he was frustrated and wondering whether he ought to switch jobs. Fortunately, he was also asked to help with a new product that the company did not have any prior experience with. And the best part - they had to build it within 6 months! And, all their efforts paid off, and both the projects turned out to be successful. He now feels that his professional future is very bright. There is a steady path and it’s all a matter of hard work, time and opportunity. He feels that being a team player, learning to be assertive yet tactful at the same time, and not procrastinating, have helped him professionally. He signs off with this advice - “the corporate world is a roller coaster where you’ll meet all kinds of people. It is better to take things at face value and take people as they are. This may not always be possible, but we should always try.” #CUMI #Materialsscience #IamCUMI
