Daakroom is a cultural enterprise dedicated to reviving the art of handwritten communication through creative events, partnerships, campaigns, products and workshops, with a mission to foster meaningful relationships and promote a digital detox culture. The name comes from the word ‘Daak’, which means post in Hindi. Daakroom offers unique and engaging experiences that inspire people to embrace authentic connections through the power of the pen. Our flagship event, The Letter Writing Carnival, has been organised in Allahabad, Chandigarh and Delhi. The 5th edition in 2023 in Delhi saw a footfall of more than 8,000 people! The brand's story began when Shivani Mehta and Harnehmat Kaur , two friends from the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, set up a stall for postcard writing at a World Post Day event in 2013. The event was a success, and the two friends went on to create Batees, which later became Daakroom . Daakroom is a cultural enterprise that aims to revive the art of handwritten communication. Daakroom's mission is to promote the art of letter writing in the 21st century and encourage a digital detox culture. The brand's name comes from the Hindi word daak, which means "post". This Shark Tank approved brand hosts events, products, workshops, and campaigns are designed to foster meaningful relationships and encourage people to write. Some of the activities and events Daakroom hosts include: Competitions, Philately (stamp collecting), Calligraphy, Origami, Graphology (the study of handwriting), Letter writing, Postcard making, Music, Theatre, and Dance. So far, Daakroom has written 1,000,000+ letters since 2015, and one of their highlights remains a flagship event, where around 50 schools participated by writing letters to the Prime Minister, Army jawans, and Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary. Bollywood celebs like Sushmita Sen, Tahira Kashyap and Deepika Padukone too have been a part. Enough inspiration to revive the art of handwritten communication?
