I’m not a filmmaker, but I have a story to tell. That simple truth echoed throughout our recent filmmaking workshop with some truly remarkable teachers from rural India. These educators, part of the EkStep Org and Aavishkaar’s Moms for Math initiative, believe that every classroom moment, every spark of curiosity and every breakthrough deserves to be shared. They often work in villages with limited resources, yet their passion for teaching shines through. Many of them wondered if they could really tell their stories on camera. Our aim was to show them that filmmaking is not just for professionals; it’s for anyone with a message to share. We kept the session simple and focused on the basics: framing, lighting, and basic editing, ensuring that the skills we taught could be put to use immediately. After sharing our knowledge, we felt an overwhelming sense of fulfilment and joy. Witnessing the spark of confidence in these teachers reminded us why we do what we do. Their genuine excitement and eagerness to get started was incredibly uplifting and sharing knowledge is one of the most rewarding ways to learn and grow. Thank you to Sreyandeep Sarkar, our Senior Video Editor, for his invaluable support. This workshop wasn’t just about teaching filmmaking, it was a small step towards empowering communities and inspiring a new generation of storytellers. Below are some screenshots from the workshop.
