About us
Design Forum International (DFI) is a New Delhi based architectural practice that is firmly rooted in the “People-first” approach to design. Founded in 1995 by three graduates from the Indian Institute of Technology (Kharagpur), Anand Sharma, Anoj Tevatia and Goonmeet Singh Chauhan envisioned the practice to foster an egalitarian organization ethos, where distinct architectural talent could find self-expression and contribute towards the development of human-centric architecture in a collaborative work environment. Since its inception, the practice has been a witness to the unfolding journey of India; from being a third-world country to the fastest growing economy. Through the diverse portfolio including projects across residential, retail, workplaces, recreational, hospitality, institutional, master planning and civic infrastructure, DFI endeavours to contribute to this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of being a part of “Nation Building''. Spread across the nation, their notable projects have set benchmarks in the Indian built environment. Over the years, the practice has grown from strength to strength and is currently marching ahead with a team of over 100 professionals, each pursuing a distinctive value-based architectural spirit and executing projects with a deep sense of optimism, excellence, and integrity. Being an agent of change, their efforts are rooted in principles of sustainable architecture and response to the local context while simultaneously ensuring that humans remain central to design. DFI has won many national and international accolades for their diverse oeuvre of work, including the Index Excellence Award in 2019, and the IIA Award in 2017. Their works have time and again found a place in esteemed newspapers and various Architecture, Design and Real Estate magazines. The firm has also been featured in the international magazines: South East Asia Building Magazine and the Perspective Global Magazine, and various online platforms.

Spread across 16 acres, De-Luxe is a luxury living development that enjoys suburban serenity by distancing itself from the chaos of city life. The Delhi-Dwarka expressway presents an added convenience of the urban centres. De-Luxe becomes unmissable to highway passersby, commanding the area’s skyline as they surround themselves with lush green cover on their periphery. Designed in collaboration with Aedas Architects, DPA, Sanelac Consultants Private Limited - India and S Bose Landscape Consultants. #ArchitectureandDesign #Residential #Luxury #luxuryliving #DFIProjects

Truly inclusive cities are cognizant of gendered design gaps and effectively counteract for the flaws in inefficient urban planning. While speaking to Hindustan Times on recent events, Founder Goonmeet Singh Chauhan Chauhan highlights the role of considerate design, especially in public places. Maximising visibility through transparent design elements, such as glass walls and open layouts, could significantly reduce the number of concealed or isolated urban areas harbouring threats. The case of AIPL Joystreet explores how transitional nodes, circulation systems, well-thought street approaches—all collectively operate to deem any public space a socially-equitable avenue for all genders and ages. https://lnkd.in/dEQzwEwx #DesignandArchitecture #SocialEquity #UrbanDesign #DesignForumInternational #Featured

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺! Architect Vibhor Burman truly believes in the power of mentorship and the impact that the people he surrounds himself with can create. He enjoyed working on the facade design for Lucknow’s Rishita Housing and looks forward to conceptualising the urban intervention for the upcoming Jaldhara Rejuvenation. For us at DFI, the idea of a collaborative workplace transcends the immediate teams; it is linked to our conduct and working without hierarchical boundaries. #HumansofDFI #TeamBuilding #DesignandArchitecture #TeamCulture

Kerala Space Centre, an entrepreneurial innovation facility, is an initiative by the State Government to promote the participation of private sector enterprises in space exploration tech. The campus is divided into Innovation Centre and R&D Offices, and is designed with climatological and ecological consciousness. ▪ The double-glass facade membrane, operating on the principles of insulation, lowers the overall internal temperature ▪ The South-facing solar panels are designed to generate energy for self-reliance ▪ Sun-tracking louvres on the South and West faces allow adaptive daylighting in the workspaces Stay tuned for more on Kerala Space Park. #Architecture #Climatology #Facade #Technology #SpaceResearch #DFIProjects

The design of the IRCON office is planned as a combination of open and contained masses, owing to its location in a commercially robust city centre in Gurgaon. Tower 1, the tallest clock, soaring 13 floors, is designed as a stacked workspace with spill-out terraces alternating every three floors. Tower 2 follows this stacked office segregation. The Auditorium, the approaches to the office towers and the multi-utility green zone are spaced out to create a sense of openness. More on this office building to follow soon. #NationBuilding #OfficeDesign #WorkspaceDesign #Architecture #IRCON #DFIProjects

The S-block atrium in Delhi High Court is planned for more equitable and expansive office spaces, with an emphasis on passive design strategies. ▪The design enables cyclical, zero-discharge water management to treat 100% of its grey water for secondary use. ▪ With a 6-metre peripheral overhang, the roof, resembling a mushroom-top, shades the structure, creating a microclimate envelope that reduces heat gain. ▪ The thermal insulation from AEC blocks, heat-reflective tiles and glass with heat-curtailing properties helps regulate the interior temperature. Revisiting The ITO Skywalk Connecting two major intersections along Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, a busy road nexus in the Secretariat area of Delhi, the ITO Foot-on-Bridge responds to the issues of identity, footfall management, and mobility in public infrastructures. Operational for over five years now, the skywalk streamlines pedestrian movement for over 33,000 commuters and provides an alternative to the cross-junction network within the busy neighbourhood.
