October is #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth (#CAM)! Our Information Security team has crafted a comprehensive program aimed at integrating cybersecurity awareness into our daily practice and to improve cybersecurity habits. This initiative is particularly timely, as emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (#AI) continue to bring remarkable benefits, but also introduce new and potential cybersecurity risks. With the advancement in AI technology, #Deepfakes have significant implications for media authenticity, trust, and security, as it generates convincing yet fake images, videos, and audio. While it has legitimate applications in entertainment, research, and customer support, it’s potential for malicious misuse – spreading disinformation – raises concerns. Deepfakes are created by training neural networks to replicate patterns, typically facial features. Fortunately, researchers are developing detection methods to identify and flag deepfakes, making it easier to distinguish fact from fiction.
