On Day 3 of the Karyotyping & FISH Workshop at the Department of Pathology, Dr. Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Foundation, Chinnaoutpalli, participants delved into key techniques, including reagent preparation, post-hybridization, and slide preparation for FISH. They also explored reagent preparation, harvesting, and slide preparation for Karyotyping. The day culminated with a demonstration of FISH software imaging for both manual and automatic systems, followed by slide observation and interpretation of FISH results. Successfully completed the demonstration & training of MLPA technology from MRC Holland, utilizing the P034 DMD-1 probemix at the Department of Genetics and Genomics, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, Jharkhand. The session was attended by Dr. Anupa Prasad, Additional Professor and HOD, Dr. Sunil Shakya, PhD, Scientist II, along with several PhD students. P034 DMD-1 & P035 DMD-2 are intended to confirm a potential cause for and clinical diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy or Becker muscular dystrophy, for molecular genetic testing of at-risk family members, and for carrier screening.
