Sowmiyan, a dedicated member of our Kitchen Operations team, has cultivated a profound passion for food. His culinary journey began in his early years when he discovered a love for cooking in 9th grade. This spark ignited a lifelong pursuit of culinary excellence.
After completing his culinary arts degree at WGSHA Manipal, Sowmiyan gained invaluable experience at renowned hotels. He did an internship at the Marriott Whitefield in Bangalore, where he honed his skills and learned from experienced professionals. Additionally, he spent a year at the JW Marriott Charlotte in the United States, further expanding his culinary horizons and gaining international exposure.
One of his most cherished experiences was receiving a signed apron from the legendary chef Marco Pierre White 😎. This recognition served as a testament to his talent and dedication to the culinary arts.
Sowmiyan's culinary repertoire is diverse, but he is particularly known for his expertise in two dishes: Palkova and Mushroom Bisque. Palkova, a traditional Indian sweet made with milk and sugar 🍮 , holds a special place in his heart as a childhood favorite. His Mushroom Bisque 🥘 , a creamy and flavorful soup, has garnered praise for its rich taste and delicate preparation.
Beyond his culinary pursuits, Sowmiyan is a well-rounded individual with diverse interests. He enjoys exploring new places and cultures through his travels. Additionally, gaming is another passion of his, and he has dedicated over 13 years to playing Realm of the Mad God, an online multiplayer RPG.
