In the 10th edition of #GoogleforIndia, Nandan Nilekani (Co-Founder and Chairman) EkStep Foundation discusses the 'supercharger' factor which will drive societal change, economic growth and social inclusion for India and the world in the years to come. "Over the last 15 years, India has created a whole new approach to solving societal challenges at scale by coming up with what we call digital public infrastructure. This infrastructure is at population scale, covers more than a billion people and is designed to be low-cost, inclusive, and a driver of productivity and economic growth. Today 1.3 billion people have Aadhaar and it is used 70-80 million times a day.We believe that DPI and AI compliment each other. It's not DPI+AI but DPI ^ AI.' In the next few years the synergy of DPI with AI and open networks is going to further turbocharge the growth of the economy, the growth of inclusion and show huge societal change in many positive ways." . The Sunbird Collective is excited to welcome Dhiway as a co-maintainer for Sunbird Authenticator (AKA Sunbird RC-Registry and Credentials). Dhiway comes with a rich experience of building and maintaining open-source projects and building large communities. The Sunbird Authenticator (AKA RC) is a Sunbird building block which allows for rapid building and deployment of electronic registries through configurable schemas and workflows. It provides microservices for credential issuance and management. These credentials are instantly verifiable, available in multiple languages, are usable offline, and printable with QR codes. The Sunbird Authenticator (AKA RC) powers DPGs like DIGIT DPG, the Inji wallet, Sunbird Matchmaker (AKA Serve) and Sunbird Educator(AKA ED). This building block has enabled registries and credentialing across the healthcare and education sectors in India and impacted over a billion lives. A prominent 25-member Brazilian Government delegation came to India to engage in “DPI Dialogues 2024,” jointly hosted by COSS, IIIT-Banagalore, and EkStep Foundation. The delegation included distinguished participants from Brazil’s Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services, Ministry of Education, CIEB (Center for Innovation in Brazilian Education), Recife Municipality Mayor’s Office, Lemann Foundation, and the tech powerhouses DataPrev and Serpro. The summit aimed to facilitate knowledge exchange on critical topics like digital identity, education, payments, environmental registries, and digital transformation platforms for cities. sanjay kumar, (Secretary, School Education and Literacy, MoE, GOI) and Shankar Maruwada Co-Founder and CEO EkStep Foundation talk about the wonders of NCERT’s Jadui Pitara (magic box) and e-Jadui Pitara, launched by the MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA “The National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, and the National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage (NCF-FS), 2022 have for the first time envisaged and crafted a curriculum framework for the foundational stage (covering ages between 3-8). The core transformative aspect of NCF-FS is “learn through play”, giving legitimacy to what is known instinctively: When children play, they learn.” NCERT’s ‘Jaadui Pitara’ consists of toys, games, puzzles, puppets, posters, flashcards, storybooks, playbooks and teacher handbooks which are age appropriate and local. Each toy and play item is mapped to a definite learning outcome. Content on the ‘e-Jadui Pitara’ complements the physical box and helps users access content through multiple digital channels. The UN General Assembly declared June 11 as the first International Day of Play! EkStep believes #ItsRightToPlay and so we wanted to mark this special day in many ways. Everyone went home to participate in the #HourOfFreePlay challenge by UNICEF India and Bachpan Manao. But before that, we opened our office to EkStep's youngest to come and Play@EkStep. Take a look!
