On #InternationalDayOfCareAndSupport, lets talk about a lesser-addressed area of women's #unpaidcare burden : Care for parents, seniors and the elderly. Women take on 70% of this support-giving role for the ageing population - but we must make the care of our elderly population a collective responsibility Reducing the eldercare burden on women in India requires comprehensive efforts across family structures, government policies, employer support, and technological innovation. These interventions must make caregiving as a family responsibility, not just the duty of women. By distributing caregiving responsibilities more equitably, we can create a society where women can lead balanced, empowered lives. https://lnkd.in/gWUqT8_M #CareWorkMatters. #LetsTalkAboutCare #29Oct. #InvestInCare. #CareIsAPublicGood.

Just a sneak peek of what it looks like to raise a child in a country that understands baby and parents’ needs. In Denmark, there’s trust. There’s support. There’s a different way to step into—or bike into!—parenthood. 🎥 @fleurdellie via Instagram

Following Gisele Pelicot’s story since the last 2 months and her #Shamemustchangesides stand has deeply affected me– Not just her heart wrenching ordeal but her innocent demeanour and extreme courage, have touched a lot of hearts. “When you’re raped, there is shame, but it’s not for us to feel shame—it’s for them. Shame must change sides from the victim to the perpetrator ” – that kind of mindset in the face of extreme pain is just mindblowing It takes a lot to overcome the feeling of being betrayed by a loving husband who drugged her for 10 years and invited a 100 men to rape her. The 72 year old Frenchwoman made her trial public so that the men don’t remain anonymous either her story in detail- https://lnkd.in/gfEsYUQU Briefly - https://lnkd.in/gRrYS7ZQ

Gisele Pelicot walking into to testify against her abusers in the rape trial that has shaken and inspired the world. “It’s not for us to have shame, it’s for them,” she told the court. "I want all women who have been raped to say: Madame Pelicot did it, I can too. I don't want them to be ashamed any longer.” Gisele deserves the Nobel Prize.

On #WorldMenopauseDay, here are some suggested actions that #workplaces can take to support #womenleaders who are at a menopausal stage. Surveys have shown that, without employer support, many women quit or consider quitting the jobs during this stage of their life. These points have been extracted from an earlier article by Bhavna Toor and Shravani Prakash that spoke about "how workplaces must support women through all phases of their personal and professional life cycles" - https://lnkd.in/ge33mTWj #womenleaders #menopause #deipolicies #femtech

The gender gap in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education is one of the biggest barriers to women getting green jobs. Those degrees are essential for engineering, renewable energy, and technology sectors that drive innovation. But women remain underrepresented in STEM fields even after making significant progress in education. See our blog on how closing the gender gap would accelerate the green transition while making it more inclusive. https://lnkd.in/eSHfh3sy

Co-Founder and MD | Building Rang De to make India a developed nation in my lifetime | Social Investor | Vipassana Meditator | Ashoka Fellow
In rural Rajasthan, self-help groups do not allow women with 'Ghoonghats' to enter. Ghoonghats are a symbol of dependency - On the husband, the in-laws and the society. But why do self-help groups not allow women to participate wearing a ghoonghat? Because removing the Ghoonghat is the 1st step towards bringing a change in mindset. Joining a SHG for a rural woman is no less than fighting a battle - - Redefining her role in the society - Removing her ghoonghat - Stepping out of her home - Facing resistance In the last 16 years with Rang De, Smita and I have visited many such villages. And every time we return, we feel like we have achieved nothing! It’s expensive to be poor in India, but it’s 10x more difficult to be a rural woman entrepreneur. Because their struggles don’t begin at “credit access” or “employee churn rate”. It begins when they choose to step out of the house. At Rang De, our social investors empower every woman who chooses to break free from dependency. When you make a social investment on Rang De, it’s worth a lot more than just financial returns. They send a message to such rural entrepreneurs in bringing a social transformation. Visit our P2P social investment platform and read the amazing stories of rural female entrepreneurs.
