When the Wall Street Journal reports that the U.S. power grid is failing, this is no alarmist publication, and Faberwork recommends that we pay attention. But the challenge for practitioners is what we can do in the micro besides replacing our lightbulbs. There are many ways to help. Here, we will discuss hospitals where IoT and AI can start to relieve the Power Grid. Hospitals' energy intensity comes from the critical systems that run 24/7. This concentration of energy usage makes hospitals a prime target for energy savings. AI and IoT are revolutionizing hospital energy efficiency. For a discussion on MedTech applications, contact Yogesh Sharma, Senior Vice President (Delivery), at Faberwork.

Data Centers Keep Surging The recent surge in stock market volatility would suggest rapid real market changes in the U.S. The bounces in the VIX, however, have not been the result of real market tumult. This has been true for Tech in general and the AI sector in particular. While Tech stocks have faced turmoil, the physical markets in AI have stayed on a tear. We can see that clearly in the growth of data centers, which is charging forward without regard for the volatility in the Tech stock sector. The Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis Group (CBRE) estimates that data center inventory in North America jumped about 24% in 2024. In spite of energy, regulatory, labor, and other constraints, this growth looks to continue. This growth indicates the need for Faberwork’s data center modeling and programming skills. Not only can Faberwork automate and integrate servers, but it can also alleviate the critical labor market shortages resulting from industry burnout and demographic trends. For information on Faberwork data center offerings, contact Yogesh Sharma, Senior Vice President (Delivery), at Faberwork.

The digital transformation tsunami – one day at a time, every day We at Faberwork have seen the trend of technology adoption by companies accelerate rapidly in the last couple of years. Recent stock market data suggests that this is not an anomaly. However, the reluctance individuals and organizations display in the face of compelling new technologies is understandable. Still, history, including very recent history, provides a compelling story for the unflinching adoption of new technology. The growth of AI, for example, is subject to a myriad of views. Prognostications about AI are frequently negative. It’s all the hype cycle, according even to the ostensibly informed. The problem is that there is little recent data to support such negative views. Tech growth is a worldwide event. In 2023, digitally transformed enterprises accounted for over half of the world’s nominal GDP, $53.3 trillion U.S. dollars. Of course, the pure tech sector alone is much narrower than digitally transformed enterprises. Yet, the numbers for pure tech have been impressive. In the United States, the tech sector adds about two trillion dollars to the overall gross domestic product (GDP) each year. Indeed, the evidence suggests that the Internet economy expanded 7X faster than the U.S. economy as a whole. Perhaps the most compelling evidence for the tech and AI momentum is the stock market. As the data below shows, the largest companies in the S&P 500 by market for different years are all solidly tech and increasingly AI. And what about the future? We discovered yesterday that Nvidia’s quarterly earnings were about $32.5 billion. This data provides much support against AI being hyped. Companies betting against tech risk being lapped in the race by even the late adopters. 2024 1.   Apple 2.   Microsoft 3.   Nvidia 4.   Alphabet (Google) 5.   Amazon 2019 1.   Microsoft 2.   Apple 3.   Amazon 4.   Alphabet (Google) 5.   Berkshire Hathaway 2004 1.   General Electric 2.   ExxonMobil 3.   Microsoft 4.   Pfizer 5.   Citigroup   If you’re interested in connecting with Faberwork to discuss your AI tech projects, please contact yogesh.sharma@faberwork.com.

AI moving from “stay tuned” to “stay in business.” Every new technology is subject to a healthy dose of skepticism. Certainly, AI, which has seen its winters, is one case. AI, and especially Generative AI, has been subject to relentless doubt. But the votes from businesses are in, and AI adoption is on a tear. McKinsey’s report on the state of AI in early 2024 showed that AI had been adopted by 71% of the organizations it surveyed. This was a clear jump from prior years, driven by a doubling in the use of Generative AI. The McKinsey data shows that AI skepticism is broadly misplaced in businesses. In fact, an August 2024 survey from KPMG shows clearly that businesses are moving into high gear with Generative AI. In their survey, 78% of firms were “confident” in the ROI projections for AI-based projects. This confidence in the returns on AI suggests that the testing phase is largely over for many firms. These surveys report the plans of large corporations. The middle market, however, is just as aware of the benefits AI offers and is aggressively trying to implement it. A 2024 RSM survey, however, finds, as expected, that smaller businesses have fewer resources, and the majority of these businesses have been more challenged to implement AI than they anticipated. Indeed, two-thirds of them have used outside help in their AI work. That’s where we fit in. Faberwork has a history of helping mid-level businesses in AI implementation. The use of wireframes in software development is a standard in the industry. But that doesn't mean that all wireframes are equal. In Wireframes-The Path from Concept to Completion(faberwork.com) Faberwork provides the fundamental framework for their use in project design. That’s going to change with AI. Any comments on that? We'd love to hear from you. For more information contact info@faberwork.com. https://lnkd.in/gdGqGEsq

The lessons of Quality Assurance (QA) and cybersecurity keep mounting. The CrowdStrike debacle could not make this clearer. The Wall Street Journal reported that the company “now plans to do more testing of the type of update that caused the crashes before sending them out.” They call this “canary deployment.” Companies of all sizes need to be listening for their canaries closely and provide automatic continuous QA. Faberwork specializes in QA/TestAutomation. Reach out to Faberwork QA (Quality Assurance) Architect Yogesh Sharma at yogesh.sharma@faberwork.com to learn more. #QualityAssurance #TestAutomation #CrowdStrike #CanaryDeployment
