"When it comes to menstruation, freedom has many faces" Hear it straight from those who live it. In conversations about menstrual freedom, we often focus on challenging the taboos surrounding menstruation but it's crucial to recognize that menstrual freedom isn't a one-size-fits-all concept. For years, ensuring menstrual freedom has been at the forefront of Free Pads for India’s operations. For us, this meant ensuring that underprivileged individuals are able to access hygiene products and making sure that there are open conversations about menstrual health among communities. But is that the full picture of what menstrual freedom means? We decided to ask menstruators what freedom meant to them as individuals. Their answers reflect how truly unique our lives are. Read their definitions of menstrual freedom here : #MenstrualFreedom #Periodpositivity #FreePadsforIndia #MenstrualHealth

Strength isn't just in the lift; it's in the heart Mirabai Chanu missed an Olympic medal by just 1 kg, lifting a total of 199 kg in the 49 kg weightlifting category at the Paris Olympics 2024. What many don't know is that she achieved this incredible feat on the 3rd day of her period. Her determination is a testament to the resilience of women everywhere. Yet, for many, the challenges of menstruation are compounded by a lack of access to basic menstrual products and education. Mirabai's strength reminds us of the potential we can unlock when we support women through every challenge. Let's work towards a world where every woman can achieve her best, every day of the month. #MirabaiChanu #ParisOlympics2024 #MenstrualEquity #PeriodPoverty #WomenInSports #EmpowerHer"

The West Bengal Government failed Dr Moumita Debnath (and the daughters of India) The recent rape and murder of Dr Moumita Debnath have sent shockwaves across the country. Thousands mourn the loss of a promising doctor and medical practitioners across the nation have taken to stand in solidarity with her.  But beyond the sheer brutality of her death is the question - what did the government do to prevent it? And what did they do to get the victim and her family justice? How safe are women, really? #kolkatarapecase #justice #doctors

"When silence isn't an option, what can we do to make sure every woman's voice is heard and her safety prioritized?" The Kolkata Incident has been the talk of the nation since the past few days, spreading out like forest fire and igniting outrage among individuals and socialistic groups nationwide. There's not a single man moved by what happened, but question is: What are we doing? It has been 11 years since the Nirbhaya case, We dreamt of an advanced nation ...but the reality is that it's not! The mistake can never be of a man, and I agree. Between online flooded quotes of "Not All Men"; it's actually the mindset of Blame Game no one is talking of. Someone will blame it on the situation, some on those men, those men on the girl, the parents on the hospital, the people on the government, on lawmakers .....but all this is just a loop that never ends, because no one is talking to achieve a real change. We stand far away from a dignified nation! A candle march won't fix the laws, who can fix this: is the government, the laws, the policymakers, and the court of Law and Justice. Do you believe there will ever be some real change? #kolkatarapemurdercase #change #justice #india

Microscope on my Period Blood ! 'I remember the disgusting reaction of my friend when I showed her the sample of my menstrual blood', said Shama. Being a researcher, and while working with researchers from different countries, Shama says,' I don't understand why people alienate uterus and the menstrual blood. I have seen researches that prove menstrual blood can be used to detect various diseases and abnormalities in the body. In this way, menstruators can truly abide by- Prevention is better than cure.' Many experiments and researches are being conducted by scientists in different countries. So, embracing menstruation would prove more useful than hiding and disgusting this beautiful phenomenon. Therefore, we need more people like Shama to come forward, and help in eradicating the taboo through science and technology.  Like, share and comment below your thoughts regarding this reform❤️ #periods #health #research #science #fpi

Books and Biology ❤ One major change that has been found in our society that has started discussion in homes, is the inclusion of menstrual cycle in Biology text books. When middle school children of age 12 to 15 study the female menstrual cycle in their academic curriculum, the teachers, parents and guardians get involved in the learning process. In this way, slowly the mindsets of families are transforming and the gender disparity is also decreasing among children in both rural and urban parts of our society. Many schools are also coming up with text books focusing on deeper knowledge about biological processes that take place in male and female bodies. The feedbacks received are very encouraging, and students are becoming more tolerant and wise towards each other. Also, the importance of good health and hygiene is increasing among schools and households and necessary steps are taken towards it. When there is no gender bias in education, and children are taught about the human body and its scientific functions, 50 percent of taboos end there✨ Like, share and comment below what you think about this educational reform and what more can be done 😊 #education #periods #health #fpi
