Happy Dhanteras Dhanteras marks the beginning of the 5-day Diwali festival. It celebrates spiritual triumph. Dhanteras is being celebrated on October 29. According to mythology, on this day, Goddess Lakshmi—the goddess of wealth and prosperity—, Lord Kubera— god of wealth— and Lord Dhanvantari— the deity of health and Ayurveda —came out of the ocean during the churning of the Milky Sea. Henceforth Goddess Lakshmi, along with Lord Kubera and Lord Dhanvantari, is worshipped. However, Lakshmi Puja on Amavasya after two days of Dhantrayodashi is considered more significant. Shubh Dhanteras to one and all !! #grrf #festival #dhanteras #diwali #festivaloflight #lamp #happiness #wealth #health #people #incredibleindia #linkedin

23 October- Sunil Bharti Mittal A first-generation entrepreneur, He started his first business in April 1976 at the age of 18. His first business was to make crankshafts for local bicycle manufacturers. In a short span of 3 years, he set up 2 more plants. One of them turned out yarn and the other stainless-steel sheets. He earned very little from these conventional ventures and had to do a lot of traveling. In 1980, along with siblings, he started an import enterprise. (Bharti Overseas Trading Company). He imported thousands of Suzuki Motors's portable electric-power generators from Japan. Within a year or two, he had a growing business selling portable generators imported from Japan. This gave him a good platform to involve himself in marketing and advertising. A sudden shock came in 1983, when the government of India, banned the import of generators and granted the manufacturing rights to just 2 companies. And he was out of business overnight. An avid traveller, he was looking for next opportunity. While in Taiwan, he noticed the popularity of the push-button phone. Something India hadn't seen then. At that time, rotary dials phones with no speed dials or redials were used in India. He sensed his chance and embraced the telecom business. He started marketing telephones, answering / fax machines under the brand name Beetel. And the company picked up really fast. But the major breakthrough came in 1992, when the government of India, began issuing licenses for mobile phone services. He managed to clinch a deal the French telecom group Vivendi for the Delhi cellular circle. In 1995, he launched Bharti Cellular Limited (BCL) to offer cellular services under the brand name Airtel. And, the rest is history. He prides himself on a string of firsts: the first push-button, the first cordless, the first answering machines, the first fax machines. He was instrumental in bringing the ‘Minutes Factory' business model into India. This model allowed low-cost mobile telephony to flourish in India. He was also initiator of outsourcing in telecom industry. Bharti outsourced network planning and IT backbone–considered core to the business–and converted its fixed costs to variable costs. His another theory is Speed. ‘If you caught between speed and perfection, always choose speed, and perfection will follow,’ he adds. Now he is widely regarded as the sultan of India's telecom revolution. Join us to wish, SBM a Happy Birthday ! airtel #grrf #telcom #mobile #airtel #coai #bcl #unstoppableindian #data #4g #5g #tarrif #linkedin

#grrf The Great Explorer of Tibet 21 October- Nain Singh Rawat Nain Singh Rawat (21 October 1830 – 1 February 1882), was one of the first 19th century Indian explorers who explored the Himalayan region, and most importantly that of rigorously guarded Tibet. His accolades consist of putting Lhasa on the map, and accurately locating the source of the Brahmaputra river. He came from the Johar Valley in Kumaon. He surveyed the trade route through Ladakh to Tibet, determined the location and altitude of Lhasa in Tibet, and surveyed a large section of Brahmaputra. He walked "1,580 miles, or 3,160,000 paces, each counted. His first expedition began in 1865. He and Mani separated during the survey, with Mani travelling through western Tibet and Nain walking to Lhasa. Nain Singh reached Lhasa on 10 January 1866. He spent some time in Lhasa as a teacher of accounts before returning to India. During this expedition, Nain Singh estimated the altitude of Lhasa as 3,420 meters by boiling water; this was close to the actual value of 3,540 meters. He also estimated the position of Lhasa with celestial observations. His second expedition explored western Tibet in 1867. Nain and Mani were accompanied by Kalian Singh, Nain's brother, and the three disguised themselves as Bashahri traders. The expedition reached the goldfield at Thok Jalung, mapped the Sutlej river, performed an 850-mile-long route survey, and verified the position of Gartok. His third and final expedition returned to Lhasa via a more northern route than his first expedition and ran from 1873 to 1875. He is not a topographical automation, or merely of a great multitude of native employees with an average qualification. His observations have added a larger amount of important knowledge to the map of Asia than those of any other living man and his journals form an exceedingly interesting book of travels. Recalling Tibet Explorer Shri Nain Singh Rawat on his birth anniversary!! #grrf #explorer #tibet #himalaya #unstoppableindian #survey #observer #skill #people #linkedin

#grrf 19 October- Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar He was born in Lahore, british India (now Pakistan) & died in Chicago. He also contributed to other fields of physics through mathematic theories. He worked on a wide variety of problems in physics during his lifetime, contributing to the contemporary understanding of stellar structure, white dwarfs, stellar dynamics, stochastic process, radiative transfer, the quantum theory of the hydrogen anion, hydrodynamic and hydromagnetic stability, turbulence, equilibrium and the stability of ellipsoidal figures of equilibrium, general relativity, mathematical theory of black holes and theory of colliding gravitational waves. He became an American citizen in 1953 and stayed there for the rest of his life. He was considered as one of the pioneers in applied mathematics in astrophysics. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar FRS (October 19, 1910 – August 21, 1995) was an Indian-American astrophysicist. He spent his professional life in the United States. He was awarded the 1983 Nobel Prize for Physics along-with William A. Fowler. His mathematical treatment of stellar evolution yielded many of the current theoretical models of the later evolutionary stages of massive stars and black holes. The Chandrasekhar limit is named after him. His father wanted his son to work in a government job. While it was his mother who encouraged her son to pursue his scientific interests. While science clearly ran in his family as his uncle, Sir CV Raman, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930. That same year, Subrahmanyan, at the age of 20, finished his degree in physics at the Presidency College in Madras, India. Subrahmanyan also published his paper on the Compton Scattering and the New Statistics in 1929 and on the evolution of stars in 1930. This earned him a scholarship to the University of Cambridge. Later He became a citizen of the U.S. in 1953. Subrahmanyan married Lalitha Doraiswamy in September 1936. He had met her as a fellow student at Presidency College.
