“We had a steady quarter given the headwinds of oil costs and tough consumer demand in India. Our standalone business grew by 7% in volume and value  and flat-reported EBITDA. Our standalone EBITDA margin at 24.3% is at the lower end of our targeted band and is caused entirely by high inflation on palm oil.    Indonesia continued its steady performance with 7% volume, 9% revenue and 17% EBITDA growth. In Africa, we continued to have a weak topline quarter but an exceptional bottom-line quarter. While organic volumes declined by 8% and value decreased by 10%, reported EBITDA grew by 33%.   High-single-digit volume growth during a period of low soap volume growth is testimony to the increasing strength of the rest of our portfolio. Our relaunch of Household Insecticides with the RNF molecule is showing clear green shoots in incense sticks and coils which were launched a few quarters earlier. Our focus is on continuing and improving our volume growth story while the palm oil price volatility plays out over the next few quarters.” Said Sudhir Sitapati, our Managing Director and CEO on our Q2 FY2025 performance. Did you know that 92% of households in India are actively engaged in preventing mosquito breeding?   This remarkable community effort has been crucial to the success of #ProjectEMBED since 2016. The feedback from healthcare providers has been overwhelmingly positive. In Madhya Pradesh alone, our conversations and workshops have educated 86% of the local population about malaria, transforming fear into proactive prevention and informed action. This journey showcases a profound commitment to community health—empowering individuals to take charge of their well-being with knowledge and confidence. Here are our key insights on what has helped us boost participation and engagement within communities:   📌 Tailored education and awareness: Customising health information to match cultural contexts enhances comprehension and ensures messages resonate more deeply within the community.   📌 Building trust and ownership: Active participation fosters trust and a sense of ownership, crucial for overcoming resistance and integrating new health practices into everyday life.   📌 Navigating logistical challenges: Community insights help address terrain challenges, distribute resources, and effectively reach remote areas, overcoming logistical obstacles.   📌 Ensuring sustainability: Engaging communities ensures that health practices adopted during campaigns persist long after they end, delivering lasting benefits.   📌 Enhancing monitoring and evaluation: Community feedback provides real-time assessments and enables timely adjustments to strategies, boosting the impact of health campaigns.   📌 Bridging government and health workers: Community involvement acts as a vital link, aligning the efforts of government, health workers and the public to streamline processes. [Our Project EMBED, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s National Centre for Vector-borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC), has focused on the elimination of vector-borne diseases across Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra in India. Through this programme, we've engaged in behaviour change programs, community outreach, and technical support initiatives to combat vector-borne diseases effectively. Nisaba Godrej, our Chairperson, recently spent an exciting few days with our Latin America team, strengthening connections with both our partners and teams across the region. Her visit kicked off with insightful market visits, where she explored emerging consumer trends and engaged with local partners. She also connected with our teams on the ground, discussing ways to make our operations even better—more efficient, more sustainable. One of the highlights? A fun and engaging Town Hall meeting that we streamed live, bringing together our teams from different locations. Nisa discussed our recent wins, addressed challenges, and shared her vision for what’s to come. To wrap up, Nisa, along with José Toscano, our Latin America Business Head, met with Dinesh Bhatia, the Ambassador of India to Argentina and Uruguay, to explore further growth opportunities in the region. In Indonesia, the Jasmine flower, known as Puspa Bangsa, has been cherished for generations as a symbol of purity, elegance and simplicity. Its delicate fragrance isn’t just a scent; it’s part of the soul of the nation, woven into traditions, ceremonies and everyday life. Inspired by this timeless bloom, our brand Stella embarked on a journey to capture its essence and bring a touch of Bali into every Indonesian home. The result? Balinese Jasmine Sensation—a fragrance that reflects the serene beauty and tranquillity of Bali. Available in various formats for every space—solids, aerosol, Matic refill and Stella Liquid Vapouriser—this new fragrance offers a sensory escape to Bali. To celebrate this launch, our team hosted a grand virtual event across seven cities. A highlight of the event was a traditional tumpeng cutting ceremony, symbolising gratitude and unity, marking a meaningful chapter for Stella. Our Stella fragrance guard troops then took to local markets and supermarkets, sharing the calming scent of jasmine with communities and hosting a special day dedicated to customer education, honouring this beloved tradition. Our team also hosted an immersive launch event, bringing together media, key opinion leaders (KOLs) and valued customers. Guests were invited to engage in a series of interactive activities designed to awaken their senses—especially their sense of smell. This unique experience deepened the understanding of how fragrance is intertwined with emotions and memory. Much like our Stella Bali Jasmine Sensation, which evokes a sense of calm and transports consumers to #HealingAlaBali, rekindling cherished memories of Bali's serene essence. Here’s a glimpse! • Celebrating the success of our sixth batch of graduates! At GCPL, enhancing livelihoods and boosting earning potential in vulnerable communities is at the heart of what we do. In Africa, we’ve been bringing this to life through our Style Academy, an initiative dedicated to youth empowerment and employability. Through partnerships with our Hair Care brands – Darling, Inecto, Renew, and Mega Growth – we are tackling unemployment and poverty by providing young people from underprivileged backgrounds with specialised training in hair and beauty. We’re thrilled to honour the latest cohort of 50 graduates, who have now completed their journey and are ready to make their mark in the industry. Here’s a glimpse! Thomas Manomang Tsheola
