India’s Green Hydrogen landscape continues to gain traction with the Government and corporates taking forward key initiatives. Recently, our Honourable Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi laid the foundation for India's first Green Hydrogen Hub in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh! This ambitious project, led by NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP), with an investment of ₹1.85 lakh crore, will generate substantial employment and help India meet its 500 GW non-fossil energy target by 2030. India's first hydrogen train is unique in several ways: - As a 2x1.2 MW FCEV train, it is the largest capacity FCEV train in the world. - With 10 coaches, it is the longest hydrogen train in the world. We at GreenH Electrolysis are proud to be responsible for producing high-purity hydrogen and dispensing it at high pressure for this train. The key features of the hydrogen production & refueling station developed by GreenH are: - 1 MW PEM Electrolyser producing 430 kg of hydrogen per day. - Manufactured by GreenH at Jhajjar factory, Haryana. - Diaphragm-type hydrogen gas compression station. - Compressing hydrogen up to 500bar. - 2,320 kgs @ 200bar in Type-I cylinder with fire protection wall. - 680 kgs @ 500bar in Type-IV composite cylinder feeding two dispensers. - Two H35 dispensers, capable of dispensing 420 kg at 350bar in 1 hour. - Employed with T20 chiller for safe refueling. Green Hydrogen can be an immediate solution for transitioning the mobility sector away from high-cost fossil fuel, which is already a heavy financial burden and poses a potent threat to energy security. Its application can decarbonize long-range transport, including surface, ocean and air. Financial viability is a temporary roadblock faced by every new technology. Hydrogen, with its wide applications in mobility, industry, and power, is the right bet for a sustainable future. Do you know India has launched a Hydrogen-powered Train? Don’t miss it 👇 India's first hydrogen train will operate on the 89 km Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana. The train reaches 110 km/h and carries 2,638 passengers. It features a 1,200 HP engine - the world's most powerful hydrogen train. Key benefits: ➡️ Produces only water and heat as byproducts ➡️ Reduces carbon emissions ➡️ Lower noise pollution ➡️ Supports clean transportation goals Developed by RDSO and built at Chennai's Integral Coach Factory. Part of the 'Hydrogen for Railways' project aiming for net-zero carbon by 2030. India follows Germany, China, and the UK in adopting hydrogen rail technology. This positions India as a contributor to future global transportation solutions. PS. Repost this to your network ♻️

As the world accelerates toward net-zero, green hydrogen is gaining momentum in the clean energy landscape, emerging as a potential source of renewable energy. A versatile, zero-emission energy carrier, green hydrogen can help decarbonize hard-to-abate industries, power transportation and help with energy storage. From alkaline and PEM electrolysers to SOEC and AEM technologies, today electrolysers based on these 4 key technologies are available to meet the growing demand for renewable hydrogen. In India, green hydrogen costs are around ₹300 ($3.60) per kg. The majority of this cost (50-70%) is for round-the-clock renewable electricity, while 30-50% is for electrolysers investment cost (CapEx). In our latest blog, we provide an overview of the green hydrogen landscape and existing technologies, explore the benefits, and highlight factors that can contribute to the growth of this versatile clean energy source in India’s energy transition story. According to ABI Research, a leading global technology intelligence firm, green hydrogen is set to become a cost-competitive solution for heavy industries by 2030. This breakthrough comes as green hydrogen production costs—currently averaging $6-7/kg—are projected to drop dramatically to $2.5/kg by the end of the decade. By 2040, costs are expected to fall even further to $1.80/kg, and by 2050 to $1/kg—making green hydrogen cheaper than other alternatives. These cost reductions pave the way for widespread adoption across hard to abate industries like steel, shipping, aviation, and chemicals, enabling them to achieve their sustainability and net-zero goals.
