🌍 Did you know? By 2030, 5 billion of us will call cities home. And by 2050, 70% of the world's population will live in urban areas. But here’s the catch: cities already consume 60-80% of the world's energy and produce 75% of carbon emissions. How we shape our cities now will determine the future of our planet🌱 That’s why digital twin cities make 100% sense. National Mapping: Transitioning towards Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure Surveying and Mapping is amongst oldest scientific disciplines in humankind. Quest for understanding earth, territorial demarcation of communities and sovereign states, and ownership of land and provisioning of taxations are earliest recognized applications of science of cartography. Longevity of continued relevance of NMAs speaks about inherent role and relevance of science of cartography and its value towards evolution of civilization. Today, geospatial industry augments geographic approach to measure, model, monitor, and manage natural resources across every walk of socio-economic activity. In 4th industrial age, geospatial knowledge infrastructure is emerging as critically valuable platform of data ecosystems, workflows, tools, and insights to manage global nervous system that’s tested by ‘resilience of everything’ today. Pursuing forward its vision ‘Advancing Knowledge for Sustainability’ Geospatial World continues to expand and strengthen its programs and activities towards evangelism, advocacy, facilitation, and amplification of adoption of space and geospatial technology for sustainable development. Advancing Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure for Society, Economy, and Environment, is an anchoring effort towards defining and refining evolving role of NMAs in national, regional, and global development agenda. Geospatial World organised a 'mini' conference on sides of United Nations #UNGGIM Plenary Meeting in New York. Power packed panelists shared and exchanged thoughts on various new dimensions of mapping agencies and their evolving role in national advancements. It was one of the most productive sessions wherein colleagues from 40+ countries deliberated on progressive directions of national mapping. On behalf of all the attendees, it was proud pleasure to present a plaque of recognition and appreciation to Greg Scott and Stefan Schweinfest for their decadal contribution and services to global geospatial community. My sincere thanks to everyone who participated, but especially to our panelist of the evening as below. #GWInsights | Geospatial World, a leading knowledge organization in Geospatial Technology continues to play a pivotal role in transforming India's infrastructure landscape. Our recent "𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭" highlights the urgent need for a National Digital Twin Policy. The study underscores the potential of Digital Twin technology to address several key challenges facing the Indian infrastructure sector today. Sanjay Kumar, 𝐂𝐄𝐎 𝐨𝐟 Geospatial World, said that “in the face of monumental infrastructure demands, a National Digital Twin Policy is not just a vision but a necessity. Digital Twin technology can significantly enhance the planning, execution, and maintenance of infrastructure projects, advancing the vision of the Prime Minister towards ‘Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI)’ positioning India at the forefront of global infrastructure innovation." Ananyaa Narain, 𝐕𝐏 GW Consulting, stated that "Digital Twin Policy will provide a platform to utilize and harness the benefits of strategic initiatives being undertaken by the Indian government in the fields of space, geospatial, AI, deep sea, and drones. Most of these initiatives would create a plethora of data through a range of innovative sensors in near real-time, and the digital twin policy would augment its holistic use for Indian infrastructure." With the geospatial market within the Urban Development sector projected to reach ₹3,445 crore by 2025, having a National Digital Twin Policy is a crucial step towards achieving a substantial increase in infrastructure investment to reach India's ambitious goal of becoming a $40 trillion economy by 2047.
