Last time we spoke of #defenceMRO and how it is different from #civilMRO. Today there is a major development on the #defenceMRO front. TATA Advanced Systems Limited and Lockheed Martin have come together to establish Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in India to support the Indian Air Force's (IAF) existing fleet of 12 C-130Js as well as other global Super Hercules fleets. This facility is another major milestone achieved in the #DefenceMRO sector in India with the Tata Group leading the way for establishing a sound and self-reliant #MROecosystem in the country. As per the agreement, Lockheed Martin will also set up a manufacturing assembly in India, provided India awards the #IAF's Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) contract to Lockheed Martin. This agreement between Lockheed Martin and Tata Advanced Systems is a testament to India’s growing #dominance as upcoming #MROhub with overseas #OEMs increasing #investments and #jointventures with their Indian counterparts. This new Def-MRO facility will not only provide new #employmentopportunities in India, but also provide many local #suppliers, #vendors and #repairshops with more work as #demand rises. We at Haveus Aerotech India #congratulate Lockheed Martin and TATA Advanced Systems Limited on this landmark deal. Today let us talk about the less-known topic - Defense #MRO! What is it and how is it done? Is it different from the civil MRO space, if yes, How? With civil-defence convergence in Indian MRO slowly taking shape, its time we clear the thin lines between civil and defence #MROsystems and the ways of operations! Fighter jets, #drones, remotely piloted aircraft, #helicopters and #trainers mostly make up the military aircraft fleet. Although the basic idea of maintenance is the same for all plane types, the military jets and their engines have to be more durable due to the nature of the job. Due to the dynamic nature of take-off and landings, the aircraft has to meet the high requirements for maneuverability. Hence the building materials has to be different to withstand extreme temperatures, stealth, and damage from the battle. Many onboard systems on a military aircraft like fire control radar, electronic warfare (#EW) systems, weapon control systems, onboard oxygen generators (#OBOGS) are different from civil aircraft. Military aircraft work in harsh conditions and hence the frequency of checks and MRO activities need to be more stringent with proper protocols in place. The activities of #MRO are done according to the #OEMtechnology, which is written down in great detail. Any change from these has to be approved by the authorities in charge of regulations and certification with the quality control to be followed to the T. We value the trust you 'Have in Us'! #MRO is a #technologyintensive service. However, the value-add per employee for India’s #MRO companies has been far below global standards because of the nature of #MROwork that is done in India coupled with the lack of a focus on #upskilling and #upgrading #manpower. Along with upskilling the manpower and building capabilities the #MROs also need to invest real-time in #bigdata and #analyticsapplications. A single flight generates huge data. Various software tech companies can come forward and assist #aerospace and #defence #manufacturers harness the best #digitaltechnologies to develop #MROsolutions, thereby expanding the #MROecosystem. We at Haveus Aerotech India believe in upgrading and upskilling our employees to keep them at par with all the technological advancements in the MRO sector. We are also planning huge investments in technologies like #bigdata and #artificialintelligence to gain the maximum benefits out of the efforts we put in for maintenance and overhaul of aircraft and its components. We believe this will help to create a strong #MROecosystem in India and in turn aid in achieving our #PM's dream of #makeinindia. We value the trust you 'Have in Us'! The focus on MRO sector in India is increasing with the new minister of civil aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu paying special attention to the neglected sector, announcing policy reforms and tax benefits for in-house as well as foreign MRO players. The focus is crystal clear, to develop a strong foundation of robust #MROecosystem in the country for the anticipated increase in demand over the next decade. The latest edition of the Global Fleet and MRO Market Forecast 2024-2034, shows that the size of the global fleet will increase 28% over the next 10 years, expanding from today’s 28,400 aircraft to 36,400 by 2034. The earlier peak was 27,800. Meanwhile, reflecting that slower expansion, demand in the #MRO sector will grow 1.8% annually on average through 2034, when revenue will reach $124 billion. The forecast for 2023-2033 was that the sector would expand at a 2.9 per cent CAGR. In 2024, MRO revenue will rise almost three per cent to $104 billion from last year’s $101 billion. Asia will once again serve as an economic engine for the industry. But over the next decade, it will be India, and not China, which will lead the expansion. However to achieve these objectives, efficiently and quickly, #technology integration will play a major role. Predictive analytics determines the future health of aircraft components and helps in early maintenance, #digitalisation enhances efficiency and safety, and optimise #maintenanceschedules. Technologies like the Internet of Things (#IoT) monitors machine conditions, mitigating downtime and improving the overall quality of #MROservices and safety markers while Augmented Reality (#AR) tools allows technicians to interact with digital models of various advanced #aircraft and are being used to increase the efficiency of #MROtraining. We at Haveus Aerotech India aim at integrating latest #technologies with knowledge to upscale and build our #capabilities to prepare a strong #workforce which will in turn create a strong independent #MRO, giving a thrust to PM's #atmanirbharbharat initiative.
