The transformative impact of sports goes beyond victories and defeats. It cultivates the values of teamwork, discipline, and the ability to dream big. Sports for Change by HCLFoundation, aims to provide access to sports for those children who live in very difficult circumstances, in rural and urban communities, in the sports of their choice. With support from HCLFoundation, 18,525 students, including 84 para-athletes, have been trained in various sports across 11 districts, and over 120 students have received full-time sports scholarships. The dedication and perseverance of budding sports champions at the 6th edition of the Sports for Change South Zone Championship held at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Andhra Pradesh, were remarkable. In this two-day sports championship, over 700 budding sports champions from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana participated. Through rigorous training and qualifications, they have proven their dedication and passion. Their outstanding performances showcased relentless effort and an indomitable spirit. Witnessing their winning smiles fuels our mission to ensure every child has the opportunity to experience this power, fostering a future where well-being and potential blossom in every young athlete. Sports for Change by HCLFoundation (SFC) a special initiative by HCLFoundation pioneering the idea of breaking barriers of poverty, class, caste, and physical abilities, offers underserved children and youth opportunities to realize their full potential. Bringing together the many players, SFC is building an ecosystem where social norms are challenged, grassroots talent is nurtured, and aspirations are fulfilled. To encourage children, especially girls, and potential para-athletes, SFC has built a robust ecosystem of change. This includes advocating with communities, counselling parents, and providing safe infrastructure. Imparting structured training to build interest in sports, the program offers the right nutrition and equips the athletes with sporting kits. #PrideMonth - Meet Kavin, a spirited individual from Coimbatore. He became aware of his unique identity after a hospital stint, where he connected with someone who shared a similar experience. Despite facing challenges and societal restrictions, he persevered and moved to Bangalore with his partner and actively participated in programmes organized by HCLFoundation supported Solidarity Foundation Bangalore.   While he couldn't complete his formal education, he engaged in various informal jobs, including animal rescue work in his village, reflecting his deep affinity for animals' well-being. My Clean City by HCLFoundation, is actively transforming Noida through its “Clean Oorja Project”. This initiative addresses the pressing issue of untreated cow dung at gaushalas, which poses significant health and environmental risks. To tackle this challenge, the project has established two biogas plants. The impact of the Clean Oorja Project is profound across three key areas : 1. It promotes community health by mitigating the dangers associated with untreated cow dung, thereby reducing the spread of diseases and enhancing environmental cleanliness. 2. The project provides substantial economic relief to local families living near gaushalas. By offering clean biogas free of charge, it alleviates the financial burden of purchasing costly cooking fuels like LPG cylinders. 3. The two biogas plants are jointly preventing GHG emissions of 250 to 300 tonnes per annum. HCLFoundation's flagship rural development programme – Samuday, has been advancing sustainable agriculture in Hardoi. By installing 14 solar irrigation pumps, this initiative promotes eco-friendly practices by replacing polluting diesel pumps and reducing carbon emissions. The adoption of solar energy has significantly reduced diesel consumption, saving over 37,000 liters to date. This reduction has also prevented more than 100 tons of carbon emissions, contributing to the mitigation of climate change.   The initiative has lowered operational expenses for farmers, cutting fuel, maintenance, and labor costs. #PrideMonth - Meet Pradeep a young man from Chitradurga district who dreamt of making it big in the glamorous worlds of modeling and movies. After Class 10, he decided to pursue his passion, but grappled with challenges like feeling out of place in society and his family's lack of acceptance.   Through a friend, he discovered the LGBTQIA+ community and HCLFoundation supported project of Solidarity Foundation. They helped him secure a job after his training. Pradeep's story is about resilience and adapting to new situations with grace.
