Yet, the brand remains a strong contender with the #MG #Comet’s consistent popularity and the launch of the #MG #Windsor, featuring India’s first Baas option, which set a new record with 15,000+ bookings within 24 hours of its launch. Mahindra and Mahindra Limited [Automotive and Farm Equipment Business] registered a significant 467 units in September, showing a promising ~40% increase over August’s 333 sales. Other key players include BYD, which clocked 171 units, down from 214 in August, and Citroën India which made a notable jump from 162 units to 387, primarily driven by the commercial segment. As India accelerates towards an #EV-driven future, August 2024 witnessed a ~15% drop in the #electric 4W car retail sales as compared to July 2024. Overall 4W retail car segment also saw significant drop of ~7% in August 2024 as compared to previous month. Prolonged rains in major parts of the country, consumers waiting for upcoming festive season were major factors in slowing down observed in August 2024. TATA.ev continues to dominate the EV market, clocking 4,284 in August, a 13% drop . With the recently launched Tata Curvv, anticipation is high for a spike in upcoming festive seasons. MG Motors also observed ~10% drop in retail sales for Aug 2024 as it registered *1,401 in Aug as compared to 1,548 in July 2024. While MG Comet remains to be strong buy for the consumers with ~1000+ sales in Aug 2024 period again, India’s first BAAS based MG Windsor is expected to fuel further growth for Jindal-MG Motors. Other key players Mahindra and Mahindra Limited [Automotive and Farm Equipment Business] and BYD registered retail sales of 333 and 214 units respectively in Aug 2024. Citroen maintained its volume for Aug 2024 as well and registered ~159 EVs for the month.
