    The power of digital biomarkers in clinical practice. I recieved a message a few days ago from a professional connect who was feeling a little under the weather - low energy, headache, general malaise. We discussed his symptoms and I asked him to keep an eye on his digital data so that we can assess how things progress (images below). Yesterday he shared his data with me and the fact that symptoms have gotten significantly worse. We examined the numbers, and based on his symptoms have now started him on a course of appropriate medications. I asked to share his data trends with you all so you can appreciate how sensitive the body can be to these small changes and our ability to manage them. You’ll notice here the striking events that take place from Friday the second of Feb until yesterday. First his HRV starts to drop - from his baseline 53ms in health to 33ms now with an acute bacterial URTI. The second change that happened was then an elevation in his resting heart rate (RHR). That increased from 51bpm in health to 57bpm in illness. The last change was his body temperature. Starting slowly, it then spiked significantly (as the fever heightened) indicating his illness. By being sensitive to one’s digital data, we’re able to see trend lines to indicate deviations that can be correlated to a person’s symptoms and then activated upon. Digital data provided by #wearables is changing how we practice medicine. As a longevity physician, all of my patients and clients have wearables that allow me to monitor in real time their #Biomarkers, which then drive clinical decision making.     We all know that getting enough sleep is essential for our physical and mental health. The study also found that nappers had better cognitive function and memory.
