    In my 25+ year HR career, the most unfortunate part has been: Witnessing stories like Anna’s (the 26-year-old EY Pune employee) & the silence surrounding them. As someone who’s spent over two decades in HR, I’ve unfortunately heard many stories that mirror this tragedy. It’s a cycle. Managers pass down toxic behaviours learned from their own predecessors, & in the name of survival, employees align. It’s an environment where questioning the status quo is not just rare; it’s risky. But what’s more devastating is the silence that surrounds it. Here’s where I see the bigger issue, and why a healthy work culture is crucial: 1.⁠ ⁠𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬: 🎯 Mental Health is Not Optional. 🎯 Resilience is a tool, but it’s not infinite. The pressure to “keep up” will never stop unless you take the initiative to stop it yourself. Find a space where your growth as a human being matters just as much as your professional milestones. 2.⁠ ⁠𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬: 🎯 If you're not empowering your people, you're failing them. 🎯 A healthy company doesn’t demand sacrifice at the altar of success.     🚀 Why many Women Don't Grow from Mid Level to Senior Level Management 📈 This is a burning issue that’s been simmering for far too long. Despite the tremendous progress we've made towards gender equality in the workplace, The climb from mid-level to senior management continues to be a steep, often impossible, hurdle for many women. Here’s why that gap exists and persists: 1. Unconscious Bias: Whether we like it or not, unconscious biases still play a massive role in decision-making. It manifests in everything from hiring practices to daily interactions. 2. Lack of Mentorship: Men are more likely to be mentored by senior executives than women. These mentors can pave the way for promotions and important projects. 3. Work-Life Balance: Many organizations lack policies that support a healthy work-life balance, which disproportionately affects women, who often juggle work and family responsibilities. 4. Networking Opportunities: Networking events often happen outside of work hours, making it difficult for women to participate fully, especially those with family commitments. 5. Stereotypes: Old-fashioned stereotypes about gender roles are still deeply embedded in many corporate cultures. Women are often seen as “less committed” purely because of outdated views about their role in the family. 6. Gender Pay Gap: The persistent pay gap means that women are less likely to be considered for promotions as they are not viewed as leadership material due to unequal pay. We need more companies to actively create inclusive environments, promote based on talent and potential, and provide the much-needed support systems. Time for change. After experience of 2 decades working in startups to billion dollar companies, here is my advice 👇 OKRs capture something that may be overlooked in the rush of daily life. It serve as a reminder to everybody that this objective is important. 🔴 Where do founders/HRs go wrong? Organizations often miss the mark with OKRs due to four key missteps 👇 1️⃣ 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 If founders can't clearly articulate their vision, how can their teams define objectives? The objective should be the north star, guiding every action. 2️⃣ 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 Weekly check-ins are essential. They guarantee discipline & ensure alignment. In my experience, without this regular rhythm, OKRs become a set-and- forget tool rather than a dynamic part of your strategy. 3️⃣ 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 OKRs must be intertwined with your vision and measurable metrics. This correlation is very important. It’s like setting on a boat without a compass; you may not know the right direction of moving. 4️⃣ 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡, 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 Data isn't just numbers; it's insights, progress, and clarity. Driving OKRs through metrics helps in pinpointing what works and what needs adjustment. ---------------------------------------- When I help organisations at HumanAlpha Strategic Solutions Pvt.
