I gripped the handlebars tightly, the motorcycle’s hum steady beneath me. My brother was sitting close behind- his quiet support evident, before our return to the hospital for the chemo. The Doctor had advised a boost of strength before every session. Naturally, I had turned to my love for biking to lift my blood levels. A mere 100 metres on a quiet street, the wind a brief, liberating escape. Years later, I’d remember this ride as I set out across India, riding alone on a bike to raise awareness about Cancer. My life changed the day I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. In 2013, after graduating from law school I found a swelling. Multiple inconclusive FNACs later, the swelling remained undiagnosed. In 2014, a biopsy in Hyderabad confirmed Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. My first thought was- ‘How do I get better?’ While the results were unexpected, I strongly believed that this was only a temporary setback. Being 22, I had my qualms about Chemotherapy. I was wary about losing hair and whether chemotherapy would impair me functionally in any way. So, we put in our faith in an alternative treatment path. However, by late 2014, the cancer had progressed to stage 4. This prompted us to swiftly switch the treatment to chemotherapy. After six cycles, I was declared cancer free in December 2014. I was beyond grateful about the results. On this journey to beat cancer, I experienced frequent lows. There was pain and sleepless nights. Through those difficult times, my entire family supported me. My brother made a huge difference in my journey. On days when I would be weak and limp from the medicines, he boldly encouraged me to pull myself together. Another challenge awaited me post my recovery. In 2016, I set out to make my place in the corporate world. During this time, many people discouraged me from finding a job. They deemed me as unfit and incapable of working. I was shattered, I felt bitter. This incident inspired me to share my story online with the world. I wanted to reinforce the belief that one could beat cancer and thrive. Thankyou Harteij Bhartesh 🇮🇳 , a warrior who not just defeated cancer but made sure to inspire, motivate others suffering from Cancer. #cancer #cancerawareness #biker #motivational #awarness #fightcancer #explore

“ I believe I’ve always been a good student. Being a doctor wasn’t really my goal but life has its plans. I’ve cleared many exams that are considered to be tough and won a couple of scholarships along the way. The same story followed during my PG when I got Anesthesia without taking a drop. While I was happy with Anesthesia, I liked being at the forefront of things always and strongly felt that ObGyn was my calling. We used to have a PG entrance exam every 6 months, so I decided to sit down and give it another shot and with my hard work, I was able to grab an ObGyn seat in a government medical college. After my specialty training, I went on to join international associations and gain various certifications abroad. While preparing for my MRCOG Step 3, I was very confident in my preparation but somehow, I failed. I had realized that I was performing very well during the courses but was not able to replicate the same results during their exams. It was so because I had to go around and learn each and everything by myself. I cleared my exam in the next go and now understood what someone might struggle with during their preparation. With my experience and love for teaching, it felt like something should be done to guide other medical aspirants in their journey and long story short, that’s how the idea of StudyMEDIC cropped up in 2016. Through our courses, we slowly started to build an audience but it really took off after a while. Launch of StudyMEDIC initially focused solely on MRCOG courses but we later also started providing courses for MRCOG Part 1, Part 2, and MRCPI - OBGYN. Recognition as the world’s No. 1 course provider for MRCPI-OBG & MRCOG courses was a significant achievement just in two years after the launch. My main aim through StudyMEDIC was to create a platform where medical education extends beyond borders with the top notched quality content at an affordable fee .This want or rather need led to the invention of StudyMEDIC Mobile App, StudyMEDIC LMS, StudyMEDIC OSCE App, StudyMEDIC E-Portfilo and more, which further enhanced global accessibility. The turning point for us as an organisation was when we became the sole official partner for EFOG-EBCOG courses, solidifying our position furthermore in the industry. As of today Study MEDIC : Shaping the Future of Global Healthcare Education. Our accreditations from esteemed bodies such as the @EBCOG - European Board & College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ISUOG International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, CPD Standards Office, International Accreditation Organization American council of training and development (ACTD), AAA American Accreditation Association stand as testaments to our commitment to excellence and ensure the quality of Medical Education. Life is a journey that has its fair share of ups and downs. For me, it all started in 2008 when my father was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia. As a high school student, I had no idea that this incident would shape my entire future. I saw the healthcare system up close and realized the dearth of haematologists in second and third-tier cities. That experience motivated me to pursue my MBBS, specialize, and super-specialize in haematology. Little later, my father lost his battle with cancer when I was in my initial years of MBBS. I was depressed for a while, but soon I started photography. I decided to learn professional photography while balancing my MBBS studies. I would plan my week off after an end posting exam for a photography expedition to wildlife sanctuaries, forests, and other places nearby Mumbai or in Maharashtra. Life is not just about work. I never subscribed to the stereotypical perception that people in white coats can't engage in other activities. Photography has been a passion of mine since my undergraduate days. Capturing the mesmerizing little details of life through natural light pictures has always been my go-to activity. I've also developed a love for wildlife photography. It brings me joy to capture the beauty of the world around us. During my MBBS days, apart from photography, I started exploring drumming as a hobby. Later, I even tried scuba diving! Even today, I make sure to play drums for at least four hours a week. I completed my MBBS and MD in Internal Medicine from LTMMC/Sion Hospital, Mumbai. I further pursued a DM in Hematology-Oncology from SGPGI-Lucknow. There have been many heart-warming and heart-wrenching incidents in my journey, but one story that always stays with me is that of a 22-year-old girl diagnosed with AML in 2019. Her mental strength in recovering and giving back to the community, even when doctors weren't sure of her recovery, is deeply inspiring to me. Reflecting on my journey so far, I've realized that life has a way of unfolding and falling into place just the way it's meant to be. All we have to do is embrace it, one day at a time. I'm Dr. Nihar Desai, currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at LTMMC & Sion Hospital, Mumbai, who loves teaching and doing research! #medico #medstudent #neet #doctor #hospital #mbbs #mbbsstudent #humansofmedicare

I started giving classes to students to earn money for buying my medical books, and that is what kindled the spirit of being an educator in me, leading me to where I'm today. I come from a non-medical family which did not have very stable financial conditions. I was determined to go against all odds and fulfill my dream of pursuing medicine from government college. I cracked my PMT exam and got into India's prestigious medical college, MAMC. Since MBBS books were costly, so as to purchase these books, I started taking tuitions after my college hours. From there, I developed a passion for teaching, eventually leading to a career in both clinical medicine and teaching. Today, it's more than 20 years I've been teaching medical students in India and abroad, not just helping them crack their entrance exams, but become better physicians for society. Coming from a non-medical family which was financially not very stable, pursuing my MBBS and higher studies at prestigious government colleges was a huge achievement in my life. After working as a consultant and opening my first multi-speciality clinic, I started teaching as a faculty in medicine with DAMS. Not only Indian graduates, I also imparted education to foreign medical graduates from China, Russia, and Ukraine. Thinking from a student's perspective and answering their doubts made me get a better grasp of things, and therefore I strongly believe that one can learn something from everyone; all that we need is curiosity to learn and keen observation. The one story etched in my heart and I want to share with the world dates back to my internship days, where a person came and collapsed in front of us. After 15 days of relentless efforts by my consultants, senior residents, and PGs, we brought about a miracle and saved the patient's life. He was also able to fulfill his desire to go on Haj, and the satisfaction that gave us goes unparalleled. It inspired me indefinitely to pursue medicine with all my heart and make a difference in all the lives I touch. Medical school is one of the most memorable times in one's life. I remember a day before our PG examination, we had a big celebrity performing at our college festival. We were confused whether to attend it or not, but we finally went, and luckily all of us cleared the exam with flying colours. We can always lead a life on our own terms if we're able to strike the right balance. No matter where we go, we can always learn from people around us, imbibing their skills and knowledge and becoming a better version of ourselves in the long run. I'm Dr. Arvind Kumar, and students know me for my rule of 2 diagnosis technique, medicine faculty, and consultant physician at Health First Multispeciality Clinic. #MedicalJourney #Education #Medicine #Teaching #Inspiration #Persistence #Healthcare #StudentLife #Mentorship #MedicalEducation #LifeBalance #ContinuousLearning

I was always a hardworking student during my MBBS days, which helped me achieve 14 Gold Medals. After completing my MBBS from Lady Hardinge, I cracked the AIIMS PG Exam on my first attempt and secured an MD-Internal Medicine seat. During my six years of residency, I've learned some of the biggest life lessons and skills in medicine from patients and my seniors at AIIMS-Delhi. I clearly remember it was during my first month at AIIMS-Delhi that I encountered an interesting case. A man from Bihar came to the hospital complaining of hoarseness of voice. Initially, I referred him to the ENT department. However, my senior imparted an important lesson: always formulate your own differential diagnosis before taking the next step. After taking a thorough history, we diagnosed him with a rare type of Laryngeal Kala Azar. This experience taught me a great deal. Interestingly, I was not digitally present for a long time. I didn't have Facebook until recently. However, during my medical practice, I realized how little time doctors have for patient counseling. Patients need to comprehend their condition, the underlying problem, the expected effectiveness of medications, potential complications, and more. I wanted to make them aware of diseases and their symptoms so they could have a better understanding of the hows and whys and know what actions to take. Social media provided a platform to reach the masses, leading to the inception of my content creation idea. Last year, I realized how I could use social media to empower patients with my knowledge and counsel thousands of patients at once via my content. Soon, I started creating content to educate people about different diseases and healthcare issues on Instagram. I feel proud to share that this year, I was recognized as the Top Health Influencer and Best Digital Health Coach in the Delhi NCR region by prestigious organizations. My journey in medicine has taught me the significance of valuing all subjects, setting goals, making the most of time, formulating differential diagnoses, and using social media to empower patients with knowledge. As a student, understanding the value of time is paramount because wasted time leads to wasted opportunities. Every moment counts, so make the most of it is something I'd want every medical student to be aware of. I'm Dr. Priyanka Sehrawat , a mother, daughter, wife, and a practicing neurologist in Gurgaon, New Delhi. #Healthcare #Medicine #PatientCare #MedicalEducation #DigitalHealth #HealthInfluencer #Neurology #AIIMS #MedicalJourney

I secured an AIR 40 in NEET PG and got an ObGyn seat at AIIMS,New Delhi but within 3 months left AIIMS and started preparing for entrance examination again. I was fine preparing for it as long as I was happy. Months later I joined MD Pediatrics at MAMC. I was happy,my parents and Aditya were proud of me and that's what mattered the most. As I navigated through these significant decisions,I was fortunate enough to have a good support system. My father was a professor at DU and my family has always been very academically oriented. Upon hearing this, people used to always assume that all I did was study but that never the case. Surely, studies were at the forefront but our parents made sure that we were just as involved extracurricular activities. UG at LHMC was one of the most memorable times of my life. I’ve made friends for a lifetime and that’s also the place where I met my husband. With LHMC’s hectic internship, juggling PG entrance was not easy. I knew I had to sit down with my books and do it once again. While my preparation was great, a day before the exam, my mom had a heart attack. I calmed my nerves and went to give the AIIMS exams and thankfully got AIR 40 which helped me secure a ObGyn seat. I used to feel dizzy as soon as I’d step in the OT and within months I knew that this was a mistake. Everyone lost their minds when I’d tell them that I’m leaving AIIMS but despite everyone suggesting otherwise, I knew I was doing the right thing. By trusting my decision, I ended up in a branch that felt like my inner calling - Pediatrics! But who knew that there was still a lot to unfold yet,COVID hit us all real bad and I started my own setup in chandigarh. A close relative of mine went through a particularly difficult pregnancy and to address her constant concerns, she’d often turn to the internet for answers. She would send so many videos of hacks regarding pregnancy and child care. Not always but they’d be misleading quite often and that’s how the idea of spreading genuine information cropped up. With no expectations in mind, I started putting out videos. I believe my ability to counsel or explain resonated with many and my videos started to pick up. Being on the Internet is a double edged sword: you receive so much appreciation but it also carries a lot of hate with it. For everything that comes along with it, I simple tell myself ‘This too shall pass’. No one’s journey is a straight path full of roses. Everyone is navigating their way through it and even now, I still feel like there is so much figuring out left to do but I’ve come to realise that by being true to yourself and trusting a higher being, it all falls into place as long as you have patience! I am Dr. Madhavi, a pediatrician, a mother, a content creator and a myth buster. #Journey #Perseverance #TrustYourself #Pediatrics #MedicalJourney #LifeLessons

Balancing passion and profession-a story of unwavering determination and persistence of Dr Zubin Vicky. You might have seen me on posters few years back for getting AIR 8 in NEET PG 2021 or in ads for famous brands like Dominos and Maggie but looking back the path was filled with many hardships and struggles which became my stepping stones. "I started giving auditions at the age of 14 and before I realised, I was basking in the immense joy that acting gave me. It has been a roller coaster ride as sometimes getting rejected or not getting the lead role used to disappoint me but could never stop me from moving ahead. I remember bagging a role as the flashback version of an actor in a daily soap and the amount of appreciation my father adorned me with, warmed my hearts to the core. My major breakthrough came with a Maggie ad which even led to getting an offer from the team of Golmaal. From travelling from Dombivli to Andheri in a crowded train , all frustrated and tired to travelling overseas to Bangkok, all confident and geared up, acting has been an integral part of my life and I make sure to try my best to strike a balance between my profession and passion. My parents have always been really supportive of my decisions. From acting & making me learn how to play a guitar to being the strongest pillars of support, they have always been there. After 10th, since my marks were better than average,my father recommended that I go ahead with the science stream and that is what shaped my future ahead. I completed my MBBS and now I'm pursuing MD in radiology. Seeing the emotional turmoil the entire family had to go through when my grandmother was suffering from aortic stenosis,I made it my goal to make sure that all my patients felt heard, cared for and treated in the best possible way I could. The relief on their faces after getting healed is the most powerful propelling force for me. I've been very shy and quiet as a person which helps me observe the world around me and dive into the different perspectives people share. It's very important to be humble about our achievements because that pushes us to constantly work on ourselves and takes us to new heights. Life becomes a lot easier when we allow ourselves to go with the flow, taking each day as it comes and living it to the fullest". #ActingJourney #MedicalProfession #Radiology #BalanceInLife #SupportiveParents #CareerGrowth #PersonalDevelopment #ObservingTheWorld #GoingWithTheFlow #KEMHospital #Grateful
