About us
IIT Delhi Endowment Fund - An Introduction The Indian Institute Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) is an eminent institute serving India and the world in the field of science, technology, humanities and management for over five decades. This institute remains an immense source of pride for all Indians. Since inception, IIT Delhi has produced over 52,000 graduates/post-graduates, comprised of distinguished alumni who are leading the way not just in science and technology, but in several areas like entrepreneurship, business, finance, politics, and social ventures in India and globally. Over the last fifteen years, IIT Delhi alumni have founded the highest number of start-up ventures in India compared to any other college graduates, and have cumulatively raised over US$ 14B of capital, almost double the amount of capital raised by the next best. Today, all IITs put together are the fourth-largest producers of unicorn start-ups in the world, right after Stanford, Harvard and University of California, with IIT Delhi Alumni leading the pack creating 15 out of 30 Indian unicorns. The objective was to launch a global alumni endowment fund wherein IIT Delhi alumni and others will contribute to an endowment fund which will be operated on the lines of such funds being run by leading universities of USA, i.e. Harvard, Berkeley and Stanford. Primarily, the money coming to this fund will be invested and the returns of this investment will be used by IIT Delhi. The final goal is to set up an endowment model at IIT Delhi that will achieve a significant corpus over a period of seven years from the date of its launch, creating a model that will generate maximum interest from its alumni, and leading to large Endowment Funds along with best-in-class structure, systems and processes. The fund will also have an enabling structure to build a sustainable and scalable endowment platform.

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Student-Alumni Mentorship Fair 2024, held on September 29th. This impactful event, organized by Alumni Relations, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi , The IIT Delhi Endowment Fund, and the Student Alumni Relations, IIT Delhi, connected over 300 students with 30+ alumni mentors. The event provided personalized mentorship to 3rd and 4th-year students, guiding them through internship and placement preparation. It covered diverse sectors such as IT, civil services, consulting, and more, with general sessions for broader student support. Students gained valuable insights into navigating their careers, enhancing decision-making, mental wellbeing, and exploring different options. We had fantastic engagement with IIT Delhi alumni across Europe last week. IIT Delhi was proudly represented at the Pan IIT Global Conference 2024, held in Amsterdam on October 4-5. On the sidelines of the conference, we also organized an IIT Delhi Alumni Meet on October 6 in Central Amsterdam, hosted by Professor PVM Rao (Dean, Alumni Relations, IIT Delhi). The event saw fantastic participation, with alumni from various decades coming together to share their experiences and reconnect. Earlier in the week, on October 3, IIT Delhi, in collaboration with Sorbonne Université, hosted a special IITD Alumni Meet in Paris. This event celebrated the Integrated Health Programme partnership between the two institutions, established in 2023. The Integrated Health Programme is part of the Franco-Indian Campus, funded by the French government. It aims to foster collaboration between universities, research institutions, hospitals, start-ups, and corporates to advance education and research in life sciences for health. The initiative aspires to create a shared ecosystem addressing global health challenges and enriching the academic and research environments in both countries through cross-mobility of students, faculty, and researchers across the Indo-Pacific region. Stay tuned for more updates on our global engagements!
