#ClimateSolutions: India's extensive coastline, particularly the Sundarbans mangrove forest, faces threats from climate change-induced events and human activities. Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society (SEEDS) is actively working to restore mangrove ecosystems and enhance the resilience of forest fringe communities. Their efforts include mangrove plantations, and livelihood development, aiming for a holistic approach to conservation, climate action, and socio-economic well-being in the Sundarbans. "The India Climate Collaborative, co-founded by several donors including myself, and incubated by the Tata Trusts, is moving strategically to increase Indian investments in the climate sector, in both mitigation and adaptation. It convenes samaaj, sarkaar and bazaar to deepen research, build capacity and create investable opportunities. Overall, India’s fund flows towards climate action have grown 2.3 times during 2017-23. Best of all, new funders like Mirik Gogri are entering the space with bold new ideas." writes Rohini Nilekani, Chairperson of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies. "It is up to the wealthy to show the country why wealth creation has been a net positive in India. No society or country will tolerate for too long the continued accumulation of wealth in a few hands, unless that private wealth works and is seen to work for the public good." Rohini Nilekani (Chairperson, RNP), while urging the country’s wealthy to step up, shares how Indian givers are tilting towards a more collaborative model of #philanthropy. #ClimateSolutions: Tribal farmers in Karbi Anglong district, Assam are facing low agricultural productivity, due to monocropping, high chemical inputs, and climate change impacts. To build resilience to climate change, Seven Sisters Development Assistance (SeSTA), a non-profit, has partnered with the women-led Dhansiri Cluster Level Federation (CLF) in Assam since 2018. With support from the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission, SeSTA is providing technical training – enabling tribal women in collectivised Self-Help Groups under the CLF to promote agri-horticulture practices and set up a nursery. SeSTA is also planning community-based forest restoration in the region, to sequester carbon in the long-term. - Watch the project video here: https://lnkd.in/gVyEaYdm - Learn more about this project on Earth Exponential: https://lnkd.in/gx22z4PH This video was supported by the JSW Foundation and produced by Meta Films.
