Throwback to a wonderful book event organised around The Tanishq Story: Inside India's No. 1 Jewellery Brand authored by Mr. C K Venkataraman. IFCCI under the aegis of its Luxury and CEO Committee and in collaboration with Istituto Marangoni organised an exclusive fireside conversation between Mr. C K Venkataraman, Managing Director of Titan Company Limited & former CEO of Tanishq and Mr. Santosh Desai, CEO of Future Brands on Friday, 20th September 2024 in Mumbai. Our Regional Director – Western Region, Ms. Shweta Pahuja, opened the evening by setting the context with an introduction to the book The Tanishq Story, highlighting the brand’s remarkable journey and the role of leadership and innovation in the luxury sector. This was followed by welcome remarks from Mr. Mevin Murden FHEA, Kaizen, Director of Education, Istituto Marangoni. Mr. C K Venkataraman shared his experience in building India’s foremost luxury jewellery brand Tanishq sharing his triumphs and tribulations along the way. Some key takeaways from the evening: -Tanishq started in the 1990s as a jewellery line within Titan, initially to generate foreign exchange. -The introduction of the Caratmeter ensured transparency by testing the purity of gold, building trust with customers. -An exchange program was launched, allowing customers to trade impure jewellery for guaranteed quality gold, further strengthening credibility. -Under the new leadership, the brand successfully blended traditional Indian designs with modern aesthetics. -Tanishq expanded globally with a strong presence in North America while staying rooted in its Indian heritage. -Titan's culture of openness and collaboration fosters creativity, which has been crucial to Tanishq's success. -Profits are short term but values last forever - ‘Being good is good for business !’ The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session and was followed by a networking cocktail.
