Forests🌳are vital to both people and the planet, offering a myriad of ecological, economic, social, and health benefits. They play a crucial role in ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation, in addition to serving as renewable energy sources and carbon reservoirs. 🌿🌎 However, land use change, deforestation and unsustainable logging have exerted enormous pressure on forests, compromising their habitat value and threatening the future of both environment and communities. As we step into the month of International Day of Forests, let's commit ourselves to celebrating the essence of this year’s theme – Forest and Innovation.  At Iora, our journey has been marked by a commitment to implement scientific and data-driven solutions for forest conservation and management. This month, get ready to join us as we share the latest advancements in forest conservation, initiate conversations about preserving our precious forests, talk to our team about what they love about forests, and invite you to join us on a virtual nature walk. Stay tuned for updates! Let's embrace and promote technological solutions that can help conserve our precious forests.   #IntlForestDay #ForestProtection #Innovation #ForestsMatter #Forestsarelife #ForestConservation #ForestManagement #ClimateActionNow

Excited to share some takeaways from the launch workshop of the Future Farmers Initiative, a collaboration between Iora and Dalberg! Madhu Verma, Aakriti Wanchoo, Charu Tiwari, Arihant Jain and Kamakshi Luthra from our team hosted the event along with the Dalberg team. We started the day imagining the state of Indian farmers in 2035 – will they truly be able to survive in the face of climate change? 🌍 What do we need to do to ensure that the farmers of the future are able to not just survive but thrive?🚜🌾 With farmers' livelihoods at risk, it's clear that traditional knowledge is one of their greatest strengths, but it must be supported by enabling policies and access to modern technologies.📚💡 The discussion highlighted critical gaps, including lack of access to robust data, localised insights, inclusive benefit-sharing mechanisms, and locally adapted interventions. 📊🤝 It is also becoming increasingly important to prioritise diversified income streams to safeguard their future. 💼 All of this will be key for building the resilience of farmers in the face of climate change and other pressures.🌾 This workshop was a kick-starter for larger conversations and the start of an initiative that will pave the way for transformative actions for the future of farming and farmers in India.🌿 #FutureFarmers #SustainableFarming #ClimateAction #FarmersFirst #TraditionalKnowledge #ClimateResilience #InclusiveDevelopment #FarmersOfTheFuture #AgriInnovation

Water is vital for all life forms, not only sustaining biological processes but also regulating the climate, shaping our landscapes, and supporting all ecosystems, making its conservation crucial for maintaining the environmental and ecological equilibrium. As we observe the India Water Week, it is crucial to address the growing global challenge of water scarcity. Distress migration due to lack of access to water is a major concern across the world, particularly in regions where water resources are dwindling due to climate and anthropogenic pressures. While India is home to some of the major rivers and water bodies in the world, we fall short in ensuring their effective management, conservation and replenishment. One such resource is the Narmada, the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh, and a sacred river to many. It is integral to the state's economy, culture, and ecological balance. However, the Narmada riverine system is under significant strain due deforestation, over-extraction, and urbanisation pressures. The Narmada Land Restoration Plan (NLRP) is a critical step towards the restoration of tributaries between Maheshwar and Omkareshwar dams. Iora evaluated the ecosystem services provided by the river, developing incentive-based models that not only benefit local communities but also encourage environmentally positive behaviour. These efforts represent a critical step towards enabling a more balanced and sustainable relationship between human activities and natural resources. By investing in such interventions, we are taking meaningful action to combat water scarcity and environmental degradation. After all, water is a fundamental human right – every person deserves access to this essential resource – and it is our responsibility to make every effort to enable that 🌊💧. The beautiful blue sky, that those of living in major Indian cities get to see only sometimes, is a reminder of what we stand to lose if we don’t take action now. Air pollution, deforestation, urban expansion and climate change are pushing those blue skies further away. But, we have a chance to change that. At IORA, we are committed to working towards a more sustainable future –reducing emissions, restoring ecosystems, and building more liveable habitats for all. But we can't do it alone – we need you to join the movement. Every small action – from being mindful of our own carbon footprint and taking steps to reduce it, to supporting more sustainable practices all around you – can make a huge difference. 💙 Act now for a brighter, cleaner future! 🌱 #InternationalDayOfCleanAir #BlueSkies #ClimateAction #CleanAirForAll #TeamIORA
