Empowering 40,000 artisans, weaving love, and connecting rural India to the world, one exquisite handmade rug at a time.

About us

Jaipur Rugs is a family business built on the fundamental principal of conserving ancestral know-how and connecting rural craftsmanship with global consumers, in a manner that spreads kindness and benefits all our stakeholders. It uses the age-old art of handmade carpets as a tool to bring prosperity to 40,000 rural artisans of which 80% are women. Founded in 1978 by Nand Kishore Chaudhary with two looms, it now has over 7000 looms and sells in over 60 countries. Today the company creates contemporary works of art by collaborating with creative talents capable of showcasing this ancestral craft with a new vision. Our business combines the pursuit of profit with the spreading of kindness in a way that benefits all of our stakeholders: our consumers and their families, the artisans and their families, our employees, our suppliers, the buyers and channels we work with. Founder Nand Kishore Chaudhary inculcated in us a bedrock of values that combines kindness as our default demeanor, compassion for those around us, and the humility that everyone deserves dignity. This means that Jaipur Rugs will work with all those that stand for these values and it drives us as an organization to work with and tap into the creative capacity of those in society that are disadvantaged or rejected. With their help, we create the most distinct design of the highest quality, and are also able to capture the blessings of the disadvantaged such as the artisans and their families. This blessing derives from their passion and devoted labour as they receive the opportunity to grow their fortunes, self-worth and pride-and which then transform into our products. As a result, a Jaipur Rugs customer will receive the most beautiful, highest quality design together with the blessing of an artisan’s family. With this competitive advantage, we aspire to become the leader in our trade and serve as the catalyst for how our industry creates both economic and humanitarian benefit for all stakeholders.

Phagun There’s something so beautiful about returning to the old ways - to what feels natural, simple and true. Holi, marks the arrival of spring and has long been known as the Festival of Colours, renewal and joy. Traditionally, Holi was celebrated with flowers, their petals thrown into the air like confetti. This practice speaks of a time when celebrations were deeply tied to the earth, honoring both the season’s renewal and the beauty that blossoms around us. This visual story is a celebration of both the artisans and flowers. It’s about honoring the hands that weave and nurture — not just rugs but stories. It’s about the joy of spring’s arrival, the burst of life it brings, and the way these women, just like flowers, embody grace, resilience and growth. A celebration of women, flowers, the old and the new. Of going back to what feels real and letting our heart guide us forward. • The tented dining room of @peterdascoli home in South Delhi is helmed by the Tulip rug in purple green from his Gilded Age collection for Jaipur Rugs. Previously photographed by Architectural Digest and Cabana, the iconic room is a much-pinned mood board reference for interior decorators around the world. To establish symmetry in the salon and dining room, D’Ascoli tented each space in a shamiana, or cloth canopy. The hanging fabrics feature large-scale panels in a tree-of-life motif modeled after historic textile documents. Photographed by @ashishsahi #peterdascoli #dascoli #jaipurrugs

  • In Indian miniature paintings, lovers are always waiting, yearning, pining, dreaming, and suffering. The beautiful heroines, such as the Utka Nayika, anxiously await their beloved, while the Abhisarika Nayika, adorned in finery, braves the dark forest to meet her lover. Kangra paintings are especially captivating, with their exquisite depictions of love. In these delicate masterpieces, all the subtle beauties and intricate nuances of love are expressed in countless shades. No other artistic movement or school captures love with such depth and refinement. Inspired by these enchanting narratives, Jaipur Rugs brings a unique twist to miniature paintings—placing exquisite rugs at the heart of these scenes. This reinterpretation highlights the lovers on Jaipur Rugs, seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary artistry, offering a new perspective on these timeless expressions of love.

  • Paheli: A Timeless Celebration of Rajasthan’s Essence Paheli, directed by Amol Palekar and starring Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee, remains a cherished gem in Indian cinema. Adapted from Vijaydan Detha’s short story, the film is a poetic ode to Rajasthan’s vibrant culture, offering a rich tapestry of its desert landscapes, folk traditions, and ethnic aesthetics. The movie’s evocative narrative centers on a newlywed bride challenging the confines of a patriarchal society, her journey portrayed against the resplendent backdrop of Rajasthan. Every frame bursts with the state’s iconic hues, transforming the arid desert into a living canvas of tradition and vitality. Filmed across Rajasthan’s sweeping sands, Paheli masterfully captures the region’s rustic charm, showcasing cultural staples like camel races and puppet dances, integral to the social fabric of towns like Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Bikaner, and Jodhpur. This vivid portrayal of Rajasthan’s ethos has cemented the film as a source of inspiration for travel, drawing admirers worldwide, especially among Indian Americans. Even after a decade, Paheli continues to enchant audiences, not just as a story of love and defiance but as a cinematic celebration of Rajasthan’s timeless allure.

Turning the pages of rich history while reflecting into the present is what describes our Singapore Store the best. Set in the iconic Amoy Street which is known for its timeless heritage where a large number of Chinese set shop and made it the bustling hub for trade, making the Amoy street a part of Singapore’s history. Lined through the street with the Chinese residential shophouses which are now restored to be used commercially, the facade of the building echoes beauty with the iconic large two-door windows. Red is the colour of prosperity and good luck in Chinese culture, it is seen on the decorative panels on the facade to welcome positivity. Also seen is the Chinese calligraphy on the panels which has been restored as a reminder of the Chinese town in the British Colonial Era. Perfectly chosen with a rich history, the Jaipur Rugs Store welcomes you with the reflective Jaipur Pink hue, a colour symbolic of hospitality both for the brand and the city as well. The fluted panels of the store take inspiration from the stepwell, Chand Baori and offer a connection of two regions rich in history and beauty. 📍Jaipur Rugs 68A - 69A, Amoy St, Singapore #jaipurrugs #singapore

  • Spring - a season of new beginnings, where wounds mend and bonds deepen, where we unlearn to make space for wisdom anew. It is a time to honor the work of our hands, to step away from routine and give back to the craft that shapes us. Spring is the season of hope, of untold adventures waiting to unfold, of life awakening in a riot of color a world reborn in hues we’ve yet to see.
