  • M.Sc. Psychosocial Rehabilitation students at the Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) visited the District Hospital in Panipat, gaining valuable insights into its multidisciplinary healthcare services. The visit was facilitated by Prof. Sonia Rani, Prof. Anmol and Dr. Angel Selvaraj. The visit provided the students with invaluable real-world exposure to the mental healthcare service delivery system within the public health sector. Students observed key departments, including the Female Ward, Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) centre, Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC), and Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) centre. Each department offered a unique perspective on patient care, from addressing malnutrition in children to managing HIV treatment and rehabilitation for substance dependence. The interaction with healthcare professionals provided a deeper understanding of clinical processes, public health interventions, and challenges in community-based care. It was a truly enriching experience that broadened the students' practical knowledge and prepared them for future roles in psychosocial rehabilitation.

  • We at Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) are elated at our in-house documentary, "Uljhan", being officially selected for the prestigious Egyptian American Film Festival, which will take place in New York from November 8-11, 2024. "Uljhan" is a poignant 40-minute documentary that delves deep into the lives of families raising children on the autism spectrum in India. The film confronts societal misconceptions, highlights the relentless efforts of families, and showcases the critical role of grassroots organizations in destigmatizing autism. It is an emotional exploration of a mother’s journey, the struggles faced by families, and the importance of understanding autism in all its complexities. This significant achievement also comes at a time when "Uljhan" has advanced to the finals at the China International Conference of Science and Education Producers Awards, hosted by the China Science Film and Video Association (CSFVA)- a major international event focused on awarding innovative science and educational programs. We at JIBS are incredibly proud of these accomplishments, which highlight our efforts in raising awareness on important social and psychological issues and producing impactful work that resonates on a global stage.

This year, the Centre for Community Mental Health at Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) took the initiative to prioritize mental well-being alongside the cultural festivities. Recognizing the emotional demands large events can have, CCMH set up a "KNOW YOURSELF" stall led by student volunteers. This stall provided a platform for attendees to engage in self-exploration and gain a better understanding of their mental health. Participants explored assessments such as the Galvanic Skin Response, Stroop Test, TIPI, and Mirror Maze, gaining insights into their psychological and cognitive profiles. These activities aimed at fostering mental wellness among students by providing a platform for assessment, education, and support and also aimed to reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues and promote a culture of well-being within the university community.
