About us
The Legal Aid Committee (LAC), comprising the Legal Aid Clinic established on November 9, 2017, and the Pro Bono Club initiated on September 20, 2022, operates within the School of Law at Bennett University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Aligned with the principles outlined in Article 39A of the Constitution of India and the National Legal Service Authority Act, 1987, the LAC is committed to providing "free legal aid" to the weaker and marginalized sections of society, in accordance with the constitutional mandate of ensuring equality before the law (Articles 14 and 22). The core objective of the Legal Aid Committee is to conceptualize and implement projects and activities that safeguard and advance the rights of the underprivileged. It strives to acquaint students with the practicalities of the law, ensuring "access to justice for all" as enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The LAC has taken on the responsibility of fostering legal awareness, education, and improved access to justice in four villages of Gautam Buddha Nagar District, namely Dabra, Sirsa, Dadha, and Kasna. The Legal Aid Committee's mission revolves around disseminating legal literacy and awareness through diverse means, such as legal aid campaigns, street plays, village visits, door-to-door surveys, pro bono activities, and other initiatives. The aim is to empower the residents and bridge the gap between the law and their daily lives. The LAC has organized sessions addressing legal and social issues, empowering the masses and enhancing legal literacy. Trained as Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), students collaborate with DLSA Gautam Buddha Nagar, participating in legal aid camps. Additionally, Pro Bono Associates (PBAs) work with the Department of Justice, fulfilling the constitutional mandate of providing free legal aid to marginalized sections and supporting the State's commitment to universal access to justice.

“THANKYOU MY LAC TEAM FOR SUCCESSFUL ORGANISATION OF PRO BONO WEEK 5.0”- The success story Legal Aid Committee (LAC), School of Law, Bennett University (The Times Group) lies behind the support of Dean sir Prof Pradeep Kulshreshtha and teamwork of LAC. I am very thankful to co convenor of the LAC, Dr Avnish Singh and other member of the LAC, Dr Bhabani Sonowal , Ruchir Singh , Dr Dinesh Singh , @Deepak Kaushik who were constant support during this time in spite of their health issues and busy schedules with fast-track classes. The success story of this event is based on the efforts of our LAC students core committee, convenor Shubhangi Singh, co convenors Udit Gupta and Lakshya Khanna who have worked day and night to ensure seamless execution of the Pro Bono Week. They tried to ensure that each and every student of LAC among 54 get an equal opportunity to participate in each and every possible way. They stood as pillar of my strength during the whole episode of Pro Bono Week. I am extremely thankful and honoured to have such a body of students who feel connected to the cause of "access to justice" and "free legal aid" and ready to be at fields to see how law work in a practical sense along with theory.
