Echoing the urgent call for climate action from LGT's Climate Conference in Singapore. As LGT Wealth India, we're committed to sustainable investing and wealth management, recognizing that the cost of inaction far outweighs the cost of transition. With Asia's growing energy demands and India's pivotal role in renewable energy growth, we're inspired to be a force for good. "Don’t just talk about the costs of transition, talk about the cost of inaction." WEF Managing Director Gim Neo’s appeal gets to the heart of the many panel discussions, presentations and insights of this year’s LGT Climate Conference in Singapore. While joint action is needed to combat climate change and make use of the opportunities of transitioning to a low-carbon economy worldwide, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Heng Swee Keat underlines the impact of climate action for host country Singapore, specifically: "Climate change is really an existential question. For a little low-lying island, it is life and death." Over the course of our LGT Climate Conference, more than 300 specialists, scientists, investors and visitors learned more about the risks and opportunities emerging in Asia, a region where energy demand is growing by 2.9% annually due to factors such as economic growth and urbanisation. A third of this energy demand is still currently met by coal, while renewable energy is already being advanced on a large scale, with 23% annual growth in renewable investments since 2004. This year’s speakers made it clear that comprehensive global cooperation is needed to preserve our livelihoods and economic fundamentals. As H.S.H. Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein put it: "We can all be a force for good." We would like to thank all the speakers for sharing their inspiring insights and knowledge: DPM Heng Swee Keat, H.S.H.
