The evening was a heartwarming gathering of individuals from diverse backgrounds, all eager to unveil their most authentic selves. The event kicked off with a lively round of introductions, perfect for the deep conversations that were about to unfold. As the circle progressed, individuals shared powerful stories of resilience and courage. One participant, a cancer survivor, spoke of her battle with the disease and how it led her to discover new meanings in life. Another, a 60-year-old accountant, reflected on his journey post-retirement, navigating the ups and downs with unwavering perseverance. Others shared experiences of rising from poverty through sheer determination, while some drew inspiration from characters in novels and films—one participant even referenced the popular anime "One Piece," illustrating the universal nature of inner strength. Listening to one another's stories was a profound experience, broadening our horizons and reminding us of the diverse ways life can unfold. The evening culminated in a meaningful activity where everyone was invited to write a quote that encapsulated their personal inner strength. Quotes such as "Never give up," "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder," and "I am ready for the greatest comeback of my life" reflected the insights gained throughout the circle. As the event concluded, facilitators Tanisha and Saee delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing their gratitude to all participants. However, this was not an end but a beginning—a seed planted for further exploration of inner strength in our lives. My Experience: Skilling Tree Project – Empowering Students with Essential Life Skills The Skilling Tree Project, by Mindificient , which aims to bridge the gap in our education system by equipping students with practical life skills necessary to thrive beyond the classroom. It’s no secret that our traditional education often falls short in preparing students for the real world, and this program addresses that critical need. 🌱The Process and Learnings As part of the project, I worked closely with a dedicated team to design and develop modules on various essential skills. The process was thorough and involved extensive brainstorming and ideation sessions. Together, we crafted workshops that focused on making learning fun and experiential for students. Our goal was to ensure that students not only participated but also took valuable lessons back with them. We also designed workbooks that allowed students to reflect on their experiences through engaging activities and projects. This experience taught me the importance of need analysis and pre-planning. I gained a deeper understanding of thinking from the students’ perspective, identifying actual skill gaps, and using creative approaches to fill them. Developing these workshops with the team helped me enhance my own skills in module creation, innovative thinking, and hands-on learning design. 🌱My Role and Takeaways: To date, I have successfully co-facilitated four workshops across various schools in Pune for students from classes 7 to 10, covering essential skills such as Time Management, Stress Management, and Critical Thinking. As a facilitator, my role extended beyond delivering content; I was actively engaging students, encouraging them to think critically, and empowering them to arrive at their own solutions and reflections. One of my key takeaways from this journey is realizing how open students are to receiving skill training when it’s delivered through fun, interactive activities. Watching them engage, experiment, and take ownership of their learning has been incredibly fulfilling. 🌼Special Thanks A special mention and heartfelt thanks to Neha Thakur, whose mentorship and guidance throughout the project were invaluable. Finding Purpose and Growth at Mindificient: My Reflections When I joined Mindificient as a Program Coordinator, I came in with zero experience but a deep eagerness to dive into hands-on work. As someone in the field of psychology, it is often challenging to find internships that allow real-world application. In the past four months at Mindificient, I have had countless opportunities for self-discovery, pushing past my mental blocks, and boldly expressing my creativity. Throughout this journey, I have developed skills I never imagined I would—such as marketing, networking, and building strong connections with students. These were areas where I initially saw room for growth, but Mindificient gave me the space and encouragement to thrive. Of course, there were challenges. Moments of burnout and difficulties training rebellious students were part of the process. Yet, these experiences taught me invaluable lessons—ones that have not only enhanced my practical skills but also reshaped my confidence in this field. I have come to realize that growth often comes from pushing through discomfort and embracing the unknown. Most importantly, my time here has deepened my sense of purpose. The work we do at Mindificient—empowering students with life skills—resonates deeply with me.
