From Mabel Addis, who paved the way for the games we know and love today, to the creators, gamers, and leaders shaping the industry, women have always been at the heart of gaming. Now, the next generation is ready to take it even further. Students from top colleges in Bangalore—like RV College Of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering Bangalore, Christ University, Bangalore & NID Bangalore—recently came together to honor Mabel Addis' legacy, eager to learn, innovate, and make their mark on the gaming world. It’s time to make gaming as diverse and inclusive as the players who love it.

The Indian gaming industry is evolving rapidly, but gender diversity remains a critical challenge. While 44% of gamers in India are women, they make up only 12-14% of the gaming workforce—and just 6-9% in tech roles. As part of the first-ever Mabel Addis Women in Games Month, we worked with All India Game Developers' Forum (AIGDF) and Coral Recruit to bring out a report that examines the state of women in India’s gaming workforce, the barriers they face, and the steps needed to drive meaningful change. Read more here https://ecoti.in/logg6Y Learn more about the initiative: womeningames.gg At M-League and our group companies, we believe the future of gaming should be shaped by diverse voices—whether playing, building, or leading the industry forward. Change won’t happen overnight, but by breaking down barriers and actively championing inclusivity, we can build an industry that truly reflects its players. Growing up, I was never exposed to games as much and never imagined I’d be working in gaming—let alone leading a gaming business. And I know there are many young women today who still think that gaming isn’t the right industry for them to pursue a career. The industry has evolved in many ways since I started, but one thing hasn’t changed enough: there aren’t enough women in gaming. For too long, gaming was built by men for men. Trailblazers like Mabel Addis, who created The Sumerian Game in 1964, shattered that mold yet remain underrecognized. Today, nearly 44% of gamers in India are women. Creators like Payal Gaming and countless women leaders are proving that the industry is diverse and dynamic. But more must be done to inspire and empower the next generation—whether in game development, design, engineering, or leadership. Initiatives like Mabel Addis Women in Games Month are vital. They celebrate impactful women while challenging the status quo. At MPL, I’m proud to work alongside phenomenal women who are reshaping gaming. Recently, my colleagues met students at Netaji Subhas University of Technology in Delhi, and their excitement about gaming careers was inspiring. Gaming isn’t just entertainment—it’s a booming industry. And with nearly half of gamers being women, they should be shaping the games we play. Looking forward to all your support in making this possible !! Learn more about the initiative here: https://womeningames.gg/ #WomeninGamesMonth #MabelAddis

This month, we celebrated the first-ever Mabel Addis Women in Games Month, to recognize and amplify the voices of women in gaming. The campaign is named after Mabel Addis, whose pioneering work has laid the groundwork for the games we enjoy today. To create tangible pathways for women to enter the industry, we met the students at Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), Delhi to discuss what it means to be a woman in gaming and technology! We are grateful to Parul Tyagi, Head of Developer Marketing at Google, for leading the conversation with her anecdotes on sustainable career growth and owning your identity in the workplace. We also had Bhavna Negi, Ridhima Bahl and Rajshree Sharma from MPL discuss their experience of making a career in gaming. We hope the conversation is a beginning in fostering an inclusive environment, where there are more women bringing their diverse perspectives to game design, storytelling, and overall innovation!
