Botanical Survey of India, Western Regional Centre (BSI WRC) Pune, in association with the State Forest Department, organized a large-scale cleaning drive as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Programme at Bhima Sringar Wildlife Sanctuary Maharashtra on 30.09.2024. This initiative was aimed at maintaining the ecological integrity of the sanctuary and supporting the national mission for a cleaner and healthier environment. All officers and staff members of the BSI WRC Pune, along with officials from the State Forest Department, actively participated in this cleanliness drive. During the event, more than 750 kg of waste, comprising both plastic and non-plastic materials, was collected from various parts of the sanctuary. It doesn’t take much to celebrate wildlife. Simply talk about the magic of hoof, paw, feather and fin to those around you; pick up a pencil or binoculars to visit your nearest natural habitat or choose to get going on social media to spread the word. Across the length and breadth of India, examples of the 2024 theme “Wildlife Conservation through Coexistence” can be found embedded in centuries of culture. Bring up these sparks of illumination, learn from them and enable our country’s wildlife to stand strong against the pressures of overpopulation, pollution and climate change. Let’s make Wildlife Week 2024 a memorable one for all of us! #wildlifeweek #wildlifeweek2024 #wildlifeconservationthroughcoexistence
