  • Mudra, The Investment Club of UBS Chandigarh had the distinct honor of hosting Mr. Salman Quraishi, Head of Sales at Zerodha, for an amazing webinar on Mastering Personal Finances. During this session, Mr. Quraishi provided invaluable insights, including a nuanced perspective on financial planning. He redefined our understanding with the formula Income - Savings = Expenditure, emphasizing that savings should be prioritized rather than treated as a residual. We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Quraishi for his expert guidance and look forward to future sessions that will continue to elevate our financial strategies. #personalfinance #mudra #zerodha

Have a blessed and joyful Ganesh Chaturthi! वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ । निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा ॥ The four hands of Ganesha symbolize the four ways to achieve wisdom and contentment. The ankusha (goad) and the paasa (noose) together signify that inner awakening can release a lot of energy, which can be dangerous without proper guidance. The modak in Ganesha's hand signifies the attainment of ultimate bliss. Have a blessed and joyful Ganesh Chaturthi!

On this auspicious day, we at Mudra: The Investment Cell of University Business School, Panjab University, celebrate the spirit of freedom and the courage of those who fought for it. • Tomorrow is the day Union Budget 2024 would be announced. The Union Budget is a pivotal event in India's economic calendar. Here are some interesting tidbits you might not have known about the same: Prime Ministerial Presentations: On three occasions, the Budget was presented by Prime Ministers themselves: Nehru (1958), Indira Gandhi (1970), and Rajiv Gandhi (1987). Record Holders: Nirmala Sitharaman holds the record for the longest Budget speech (a whopping 2 hours, 42 minutes in 2020) and is also India's first full-time female Finance Minister.  Former Finance Minister Morarji Desai reigns supreme for presenting the Budget the most times - a record 10! P. Chidambaram (9), Pranab Mukherjee and Yashwant Sinha (8 each), and Manmohan Singh (6) follow closely behind. Timely Tweaks: Traditionally, Budgets were presented at 5 pm to coincide with tabling in the British Parliament. This continued until 1999, when Yashwant Sinha switched to a more productive 11 am slot. In 2017, the presentation date moved to February 1st to allow for smoother project approvals. This year also saw the merging of the Railway Budget with the Union Budget. Memorable Moments: P. Chidambaram's 1997-98 Budget, fondly remembered as the "Dream Budget," lowered personal income tax rates. Manmohan Singh's 1991 Budget is a landmark event, heralded for liberalizing the Indian economy. Pre-Budget Rituals & Security Measures: A week before the Budget presentation, a unique "halwa ceremony" kicks off the printing process. This ceremony signifies an auspicious beginning.  Following the ceremony, officials involved in the printing process enter a secure "lock-in" period with limited communication until the Budget is unveiled.  Security Breach! Interestingly, a Budget leak in 1950 prompted a swift change in printing locations. Prior to the leak, printing happened within the prestigious Rashtrapati Bhavan. The leak forced a move to a more secure government press on Minto Road in Delhi. Today, printing takes place in a high-security basement facility within the North Block on Raisina Road. Please continue the thread with any additional interesting facts you may have. #MudraMonday #Ubschandigarh #UnionBudget #Financialliteracy
