As more people seek nature-immersed living in cities, construction is increasingly encroaching on eco-sensitive areas to meet this demand. Ashish Acharya from Propsoch highlights the current trends and potential risks if this continues unchecked. While it’s encouraging to see more appreciation for green spaces, we must recognize that cities may not always offer what we need. It’s time to explore options that support harmonious coexistence with nature for a sustainable future. 🌿 What are your thoughts? Should we continue seeking city-based options or consider broader possibilities? Tell us! #GreenInvestments #RealEstate #SustainableArchitecture #Sustainability #DreamHouse Vinod Chandramouli
About us
Mycelium Ecology is on a mission to develop community projects with the sole purpose of conserving bio-diversity within the Western Ghats. We are a group of individuals who believe in investing in our children's future by owning and conserving rapidly depleting bio-diverse habitats. There is a need to do this now more than ever! An increase in demand for plantation produces, development required to complement growth, unplanned urbanization, and development projects without clearly observing its long-term impact are a reality in the Western Ghats today. We are losing precious native components within this complex ecosystem in front of our eyes. Our approach is to create knowledge, conversations, spaces & installations for future generations to reflect.

Sir David Attenborough offers a fascinating glimpse into the intricate communication occurring in nature, revealing how flowers signal to bees through subtle electrical fields. 🐝 These signals inform the bees that a particular flower is already occupied, showcasing the remarkable ways in which plants and pollinators interact in their shared ecosystem. https://lnkd.in/d9UCfxWW

We love to see Fungi finally getting the recognition it deserves! 🍄✨ As highlighted by Furci, recognizing fungi is crucial for understanding and preserving our ecosystems. Just as we can’t diagnose a disease without a blood test, we can’t fully grasp nature without considering fungi — the foundation of life on Earth. This new pledge in UK and Chile emphasizes our long-standing reliance on Fungi for a healthy ecosystem, food, medicine, and more. Let's face it: the Western Ghats are home to complex ecosystems, teeming with rich biodiversity and numerous micro-ecological zones. So, it's safe to say that no aerial survey or broad reports can begin to uncover the wealth of knowledge that lies under its canopies. As senior wildlife expert Ullas Karanth emphasizes, grassroots-level studies through the involvement of locals is crucial for the successful implementation of environmental protection initiatives. https://lnkd.in/dpJk5UMe

The ancient Shola grasslands are not only home to rare and unique species but also serve as the source for many rivers in South India. This informative seminar by Dr Jayashree Ratnam from the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore illustrates the importance of this grassland-forest mosaic — one that was inaccurately labeled a degraded anthropogenic landscape by earlier colonial foresters, treated as such, and now needs urgent restoration and care. Definitely worth a weekend deep dive 🌿 https://lnkd.in/dwqnRN-E
