In Limkheda, Dahod, Gujarat, 150 women dairy farmers are rewriting their future with NABARD’s Livelihood & Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP) initiative. With dedicated workshops providing hands-on training in paneer, ghee, curd making, and more; access to modern #dairy equipment; and financial support, these women are transforming dairy farming into a profitable venture. This #LEDP intervention, which focused on dairy training, has led to a 30% increase in milk production and a 40% rise in farmers' incomes, fostering prosperity in their livelihoods and empowering women of the community. 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 – NABARD #TDFupdate With the support of NABARD - National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Tribal Development Fund (TDF), 413 tribal families in Kulathupuzha, Kollam district, Kerala, are embracing sustainable livelihoods that strengthen food security, financial stability, and environmental conservation. #Kulathupuzha is home to indigenous communities that have historically depended on forest-based livelihoods. However, with limited access to stable income sources and increasing climate uncertainties, these communities face challenges in agriculture, financial inclusion, and resource sustainability. Recognizing the need for a resilient, community-led intervention, the #NABARD TDF project was launched in July 2024 to equip families with climate-smart agricultural practices, organic farming inputs, and diversified livelihood options. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬 & 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐰: 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 – 320 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 n𝐨𝐰 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 with crops like coconut, pepper, arecanut, banana, turmeric, and ginger, ensuring long-term income security and ecological sustainability. 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤 & 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 – 123 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 through goat rearing, poultry farming, fishery, and beekeeping, improving both nutrition and household income. 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 & 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 – 197 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐢𝐨-𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, helping them shift away from chemical farming and restore soil health. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 & 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 – 280 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 25 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬 (𝐒𝐇𝐆𝐬), creating pathways for financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and economic resilience. For the tribal communities of Kulathupuzha, this initiative is more than just economic assistance—it is about preserving their connection to the land, strengthening their traditional knowledge, and ensuring sustainable livelihoods for future generations.
