Shri Tiwari emphasized the importance of comprehensive building codes (ECBC and ENS) and the need to address urban cooling across all infrastructure, including roads. He stressed on the need to integrate green-building costs into project expenses and highlighted the gaps that remain in research and development. Highlights of the Inaugural Session below. 🥇 Ms. Dipa Singh Bagai, Country Head, NRDC India emphasized the urgency of addressing extreme heat challenges, particularly for vulnerable populations, and the critical role of the urban cooling policy. 🥈 Shri Sanjay Seth, Senior Director, TERI - The Energy and Resources Institute and CEO, GRIHA Council, talked about the importance of addressing heat for economically weaker sections and advocated for passive design strategies and cool roofs. 🥉 Shri Dr. Nitin Gokarn, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Housing and Urban Planning Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh stressed on the urgency for comprehensive urban cooling, beyond cool roofs. ⏩ Lt.
