In 1950, She had founded 'The Missionaries of Charity' in Calcutta, which was a sisterhood dedicated to helping the poor & to spread love and care. It expanded internationally and to this day with thousands of nuns and brothers across many countries, all of whom look after the poor and the sick in the slums around the cities across the world.
