I am putting my personal machine to some use. "My computer is the new data center" came true 😀 . We've built a RAG pipeline, which now enables us to query for profiles against a job description. Generated fake data, created embeddings, and stored them in a self-hosted VectorDB. Our journey from experimenting with models like Phi2 to moving to Llama3.1 8 B. While things are still abstract to us, but it has been a fun experience. We've also tried to work with prompt engineering and implemented the application. Kept the self-hosted LLM models swappable to observe the correctness. While there's still much to do, we've gained valuable insights trying to build our mental model. Will publish our learnings on One2N's blog!

This was a fun collaboration with Mihir Bhagwat - we played with Cloudwatch insights metrics, ran into some corner cases, solved them through doc and AWS support and overall understood the learnings associated with it. When you are too used to PromQL - thinking in another framework seems a bit unconventional. Check out the post to learn a thing or two about Cloudwatch Metric Insights! 🚀 Exploring CloudWatch for EKS Monitoring: Insights & Challenges 🛠️ At One2N, we recently tackled an interesting use case: monitoring node_status_ready_condition in AWS EKS using CloudWatch Insights. For a client who didn't have Prometheus, we relied solely on CloudWatch—something new for our team accustomed to using kube-state-metrics, PromQL, and the excellent Prometheus alerts. 🔍 Our Journey: We started with a basic alert: trigger when a node is not_ready. This evolved in an auto-scaling environment to: trigger when at least one node from N nodes is not_ready. Eventually, it became: trigger when X% or more nodes are not_ready. ⚙️ CloudWatch Metric Insights turned out to be AWS's answer to PromQL. While it wasn’t as intuitive for us initially, it provided an alternative way to manage the above scenarios. However, we found limitations when trying to extend this to alerting if X% of pods exceeded CPU/memory thresholds. 💡 Takeaways: CloudWatch is powerful but comes with its own set of challenges, especially for those familiar with Prometheus. It’s essential to understand where CloudWatch shines and where it may fall short. Want to learn more about our experience?
