  • Sports can change the world. It has the power to inspire, the power to unite people in a way that little else does." – Nelson Mandela The sports events in Paradox '24 weaved the fabric of unity, with diverse threads coming together to form a single, strong entity. It brought people closer—strangers and friends alike—teaming up and competing in various sports, from traditional sports to the electrifying world of e-sports.   More than just competition, these events were a celebration of teamwork, resilience, and the shared spirit of pushing limits. Whether on the field or behind the screen, every match was a testament to the passion and camaraderie that define sports.   Here’s to the unforgettable moments, the hard-fought victories, and the bonds that made Paradox '24 truly special. #sports #paradox25 #iitmadras #victories

  • Paradox'24 delivered far more than its promise of fun, laughter, and new friendships. What began as a much-needed escape from our hectic routines transformed into an unexpected journey of growth with new skills and knowledge. Let's be honest—none of us had "coding challenges" or "tech workshops" on our festival bucket lists, but they quickly became the unexpected highlights of the experience.  Sometimes the best memories come from the most unexpected places—like finding yourself completely absorbed in a technical challenge when you thought you were just there for the music and games. Paradox'24 reminded us that growth happens when we're busy having fun. #paradox25 #tech #coding #skills

  • Through the lens: Symphony of paradox The strum of a guitar, angelic voices filling the air, crowds swaying to captivating melodies—energy at its peak. Does that take you back to Paradox '24? While the DJ night garnered attention, it was the student performances that truly stole the show. Talented performers took the spotlight, shedding all inhibitions and delivering electrifying acts that kept the audience spellbound. Yet there were also those magical moments when a hush fell over the crowd during softer melodies, highlighting music's profound emotional range. Over the coming weeks, we invite you to relive the moment, the Paradox experience, through our special series of posts. This is Paradox, Through the Lens. #throughthelens #djnight #paradox25 #iitmadras

  • 🎭 Faces of Paradox | Coverage 8 With this season of Faces of Paradox almost over, we bid farewell to a journey that celebrated the stories of triumph, setbacks, and growth from the heart of Paradox Fest at IIT Madras. It's been an inspiring ride, showcasing the essence of human resilience and achievement. Wait.. wait! You really thought we’ll leave without a bang? How can we, when we haven’t introduced you to this enigmatic man and his remarkable achievements? As the echoes of Paradox’24 still ring in our ears, let’s talk about the man who designed the hype—literally. Meet AK Deepankar—the brain behind the mind-blowing website you navigated, the trailer that sent chills down your spine, and the Skyrocket edits that made your heart race. And if you walked through that grand Arc Gate entrance, well, guess what? That was his design too. From the very inception of the Paradox Multimedia Team, AK Deepankar has been at the forefront, pushing pixels and boundaries alike. A design and coding enthusiast, he loves experimenting, taking creative risks, and turning chaos into aesthetic brilliance. Whether it’s UI/UX design, multimedia edits, or web development, he thrives on challenges. Currently pursuing his diploma level in the IIT Madras BS Degree program, Deepankar doesn’t just stop at design. He’s a hackathon aficionado, always on the lookout for the next big challenge. At Paradox ’24, he attended workshops and gained industry insights to upskill himself—always striving to learn and grow. And guess what? That learning landed him an internship as a UI Developer at IIT Madras BS in Data Science Programme adding another achievement to his bag. But Paradox isn’t just about the work; it’s about the experience. And Deepankar made sure he soaked it all in. Whether it was the DJ night, music events, Quotopia, he was there, living every moment to the fullest. Sure, there were buggy rides around the campus that may or may not have taken up most of his time, but hey, it’s all part of the fun, right? Last year, he played a crucial role as the Multimedia Super Coordinator, handling everything from website UI to designing the Arc Gate to creating that viral reel that took Paradox by storm. Deepankar’s journey is a reminder that creativity isn’t just about making things look good—it’s about taking risks, embracing the unexpected, and learning at every step. And that’s exactly what he did at Paradox ’24. #FacesOfParadox #Graphics #Multimedia #Dedication #IITMadras #Paradox

  • 🎭 Faces of Paradox | Coverage 7 Imagine this: it’s Prom Night. You’re waiting for her to show up. But before she could arrive… your alarm wakes you up. And you realize two things: 1. There’s no “her” in your reality 2. “Jag soona soona lage” is your most played song this Valentine’s week. Feeling disappointed? So did Manoranjan Mohanty, when he couldn’t find a date for Prom Night. Hence, With little to share about his love life, we’re here to put spotlight on his professional feats. When Manoranjan first joined the BS program in May 2022, he had one mission in mind: to bring the joy of chess to his peers. Upon discovering the dormant Chess Club, Manoranjan reached out to Soumyabrata Mahapatra, who introduced him to the founding members. Saavan 2022 was his first taste of handling a chess tournament as an organizer. Then he went on to serve as Event Head for Saavan 2023 and Margazhi 2024, building the club’s reputation as one of the most vibrant communities at IIT Madras. But Paradox 2024 was the event that took everything to the next level. Manoranjan arrived a few days before the event. Faiz Ali, the Paradox Sports Head, played a key role in ensuring the success of the chess tournament. The chess tournament was honored by the presence of two Grandmasters: RB Ramesh and GM Akash Ganesan. GM Ramesh was honored with a bouquet and memento, followed by a discussion where he shared valuable career insights. Later, they welcomed GM Akash Ganesan, who was set to play simultaneous tournaments against the top 12 players. However, Manoranjan and his fellow chess player Aryan accompanied him to his home due to unforeseen circumstances. Then came the infamous - Prom Night. The Prom Night at Paradox 2024 was supposed to be the crown jewel of the event. Manoranjan had been looking forward to it all week, but fate had other plans. Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t find a partner to join him for the night, and he found himself sitting out. It wasn’t the romantic, Valentine’s-esque experience he had imagined. However, Manoranjan didn’t let this setback spoil the event. The evening closed with a dinner party for the event organizers and society heads, where Manoranjan, joined by Sourav Mondal (Deputy Secretary of the Chess Society), had the opportunity to engage with key figures at IIT Madras, including Prof. Andrew Thangaraj, Prof. Vignesh Sir, and Bharathi Ma’am, deepening his connection to the community. As Manoranjan left for home the following day, he carried with him not only the rich memories of a successful event but also the lessons learned from his involvement with such a dynamic and hardworking team. Though his Prom Night may not have gone as planned, the experiences he had during Paradox 2024 became cherished memories he would carry for years to come. • 🎭 Faces of Paradox | Coverage 6 The Journey of Innovation: From Vision to Reality at Paradox 2024 In May 2023, a visit to IIT Madras introduced a young, aspiring electronics enthusiast Aditya Rao to Paradox, the annual fest that would ultimately leave an indelible mark on his academic journey. Though he wasn’t yet a student in the BS Degree Program at IIT Madras, the event inspired him to contribute to the next Paradox in a meaningful way. Little did he know, his journey from attendee to organizer would unfold within a year. That inspiration turned into the creation of RoboSoccer—a pioneering robotics competition at Paradox 2024 that aimed to blend electronics, robotics, and fun. By 2024, Aditya was officially enrolled in the BS in Electronic Systems program and focused on making his vision a reality. He proposed a unique competition where students built wireless robots to compete in a football-style tournament. What set this apart was using mobile phones as controllers via Wi-Fi, significantly reducing hardware costs typically involved in such competitions. The event's success was accelerated by Aditya’s mentorship under Professor Janakiraman Viraraghavan, whom he had first encountered in 2023 at Paradox. Professor Viraraghavan became the chief mentor and referee for RoboSoccer, adding tremendous value to the event and reinforcing the strong mentorship culture at IIT Madras. Under Aditya’s leadership, the event became a major highlight of Paradox 2024, attracting over 520 participants. Aditya blended his passion for robotics with his organizational skills, ensuring the 3-day competition was both successful and enjoyable for everyone involved. One of Aditya's favorite memories was preparing for the event. He recalls sourcing components from electronics stores across Chennai and constructing the arena with great attention to detail. However, the most memorable part was watching the event come to life—seeing participants eager to compete with their robots and learn along the way. The genuine success of this event was driven by its community impact, with its open-source code becoming a valuable resource and its reach expanding to rural schools through NGO referrals—all made possible by the platform provided by Paradox. Beyond Paradox 2024, Aditya's leadership in IITM-DIY continues to inspire high school students across India and the Middle East in electronics and robotics, with three successful batches already completed. For him, Paradox 2024 wasn’t just an event—it was the realization of a vision, a journey of growth, and a step toward fostering an open-source robotics culture at IIT Madras, where future innovators are encouraged to push boundaries and create meaningful technological advancement. • 🎭 Faces of Paradox | Coverage 5 “From Uncertainty to Triumph—Shreya's Paradox Adventure” Shreya Chakrabarti’s first experience at Paradox was a journey filled with unexpected moments, new friendships, and unforgettable memories that would stay with her forever. On the first day reaching the IITM campus, Shreya felt a mix of excitement and uncertainty. Having not connected with anyone beforehand, she wandered around, unsure where to go. But soon, she reached her assigned room by the familiar IITM bus. It was there that she met her roommate, whose warm welcome instantly made Shreya feel at ease. She could already feel the anticipation about the events starting from the next day. The next day, Shreya enrolled in the badminton event under the Wayanad house, not to compete, but simply to enjoy the experience. She missed the inauguration, but between winning her first mixed doubles and Wayanad house securing second place— it was a happy moment for her except for the disappointment she felt at her own unsatisfactory performance. The fashion show she attended in the evening captivated her. The third day was a day for relaxation, as Shreya decided to forgo the “Mysterious Mind Maze” event in favor of a quiet afternoon. After seeing someone bragging about the t-shirt he won at an ASUS event, Shreya and her friend decided to join the challenge, doing push-ups to earn their own t-shirts. Later, she enjoyed the DJ Night at SAC, though she left early to prepare for the Kampus Run the next morning. The next morning, Shreya woke up at 4:30 AM, determined to compete in the Kampus Run. To her delight, her roommate, despite having a late night, chose to join her to support her. This small but meaningful gesture filled Shreya with immense joy and gratitude. At 5:30 AM, the race began under a perfect sky, and after about 23 minutes of running, Shreya crossed the finish line first among the female runners in a 5 Km race. The cheers from the crowd, including her friend near the finish line, made her feel like a celebrity. She was awarded a bouquet and cans of Red Bull, and the experience became one of the highlights of her time at Paradox. When the reel of winners was posted on IITM’s Instagram, she felt a special sense of recognition. After enjoying the final day fully, she checked out of the hostel the next day with a heavy heart, reflecting on the unforgettable memories she had created. Paradox had given her not only new friendships and experiences but also a deeper sense of confidence and belonging. For Shreya, her first Paradox was a journey of self-discovery and meaningful connections. It left a lasting impression on her, and she eagerly anticipated more transformative experiences at Paradox in the future.
