Happy Mother's Day to all mothers - working, were working, or not working in the corporate world
This Mother's Day, let's address a crucial issue impacting the Indian corporate landscape—gender diversity and equity. Despite legal advancements such as the extension of maternity leave to six months, deep-seated cultural norms continue to present challenges. In India, similar to cultural dimensions observed in Japan, societal expectations often dictate that women should prioritize family care after marriage. This mindset can lead to hiring biases against women, particularly those of 'marriageable' age, under the assumption that they may soon leave to relocate or take maternity leave. Japan has never had policies restricting childbirth but is currently grappling with workforce implications. In Japan, the clash of cultural dimensions and aspirations of the women of the GenZ & millennials have contributed to an aging population and a shrinking workforce. In India, a similar saga seems to be unfolding, the outcome mirrors a loss in potential talent and innovation by sidelining skilled women due to marital or maternal prospects. We are at a crossroads. On one hand, we strive for gender diversity; on the other, we struggle to offer equitable employment. Many professional women, especially from younger generations, are choosing to delay marriage or forego children, viewing these as necessary sacrifices to maintain career trajectories. This is not just a loss for the individuals but for our society and economy as well. This Mother's Day, let's rethink our approach. Let’s celebrate and support all choices, including the choice to be mothers without penalizing professional growth. Let's commit to truly equitable employment practices that honor and advance both the personal and professional lives of all employees. Reflect on the long-term repercussions of our current practices and strive for a workplace that truly values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Happy Mother’s Day! #GenderDiversity #EquitableWorkplace #MothersInBusiness #WorkplaceEquity #InclusiveLeadership #WomenInLeadership #MaternityLeave #MotherhoodAndCareer #SupportWorkingMoms #ChangeTheNorm #motherhoodpenalty

Diverse teams need to be aware of how to overcome unconsious bias in the daily practice of their profession. Connect for sessions on DE&I
I recently had the privilege of leading Diversity and Inclusion sessions with a major financial institution via Be.artsy: Awareness Experts. Over the course of just seven working days, I engaged with over 500 individuals across various locations, personalities, job roles, and genders. While surface-level diversity was evident, delving deeper revealed a multitude of perspectives and unconscious biases. There's a wealth of knowledge to be gained if we're willing to break down the barriers we've erected and embrace inclusivity, fostering genuine human connections. Thanks Shikha Mittal for making me part of this journey of creating awareness and building community for greater #inclusion. Kudos to your team- Sayanti Chaudhury for great co-ordination behind the scenes 🙏 #inclusion #diversityequityandinclusion #inclusionexperts

A brief session and the youngest corporate audience addressed ever by me. It was a very interactive and energetic group of The Souled Store who were eager to understand the “Ways of Working” and being effective team leaders. Thank you Riya Narvekar and Kejal Shah for giving me the opportunity and inviting me to Mumbai.
