𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴- 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝘆 The shift from rote learning to genuine comprehension can only be brought about when students can grasp concepts and language does not stand as a barrier to learning. A recent UNESCO report highlights that 40% of the global population lacks access to education in their native or familiar language, which is the first and primary hurdle to access to equitable education. The Government of India through the National Education Policy, 2020 advocates for a medium of instruction to be in the home language, mother tongue, or local language up to at least Class 5, and preferably up to Class 8. Further advancing this agenda, the AICTE- VAANI scheme has been launched in emerging areas of technical education in 12 regional languages. All these efforts have been made towards a collective vision of making education truly accessible, while giving equitable opportunities to all learners, irrespective of their linguistic, cultural, or socioeconomic backgrounds. We are all players in the same education system and PW (PhysicsWallah) has envisaged this as an expansion in our vernacular offerings, the first leg of which is called Project Bharat, launched in our annual flagship event, Vishwas Diwas. We are leveraging #AI to create content in regional languages, providing consistency and instruction directly from the teachers, thus trying to bridge the educational gap across rural regions.
