NATURAL GAS SOCIETY (NGS) recently held its 7th Natural Gas Operations and Maintenance Conference in Mumbai, providing a platform to deliberate and exchange knowledge & experience. At the inauguration, Akhil Mehrotra - MD – PIL, addressed the critical role of Data Management for efficient operations, significance of Safety & Pipeline Integrity, and the concomitant need to enhance skill set of people in tandem with the sectoral developments. He also highlighted PIL initiatives on integrating AI and ML in gas measurements, development of custom software, assessment of CBG viability, and the integration of Hydrogen with Natural Gas. Furthermore, PIL presented papers on multiple topics including – - Digitalization in Operations for Maximizing Efficiency and Safety – highlighted the digital transformations /initiatives adopted at PIL to enhance remote operations & monitoring and equipment performance optimization. - ROU Maintenance & Management – focused on the advanced methodologies & challenges of Drone surveillance & other digital methodologies for pipeline safeguarding. - Integrity Assessment of Non-Piggable Pipelines - explained the methodology in detail along with recent case studies carried out at PIL.
