🌟 Celebrating the State-level Children's Creativity Festival in Lucknow! 🌟  We recently celebrated the state-level Children's Creativity Festival in Lucknow with the theme "Empower and Protect." Many children lack opportunities for creative learning and awareness about empowerment and protection. Bridging this gap was the core objective of this festival. Over three days, 428 young participants engaged in activities like singing, dancing, arts and crafts, and 3D modeling. Highlights included visiting the 1090 Helpline Headquarters, interactive sessions with senior police officials, and insightful workshops. The festival concluded with inspiring performances and creative displays. A "Demands by Children" brochure was handed to the SCPCR chairperson, highlighting children's voices and needs. By fostering intergenerational dialogues, engaging health providers and teachers, and empowering peer educators and mothers, the campaign is creating an environment where menstrual hygiene is openly discussed and prioritized. Key Activities and Initiatives - Peer Education and Youth Leadership Youth Champs Leadership: Dynamic Youth Champs lead the charge, spreading crucial information about Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM). Peer Educators' Role: Peer educators break down barriers and challenge myths and taboos. Intergenerational Dialogues and Community Engagement Dialogues and Group Meetings: Safe spaces for open discussions between generations, fostering understanding and support. Community Awareness Sessions: Regular sessions in schools and communities educate and sensitize about menstrual hygiene. Involvement of Health Service Providers and Teachers Active Engagement: Health providers and teachers ensure accurate information and guidance are shared. Addressing Challenges: Professionals at the grassroots level offer support and expertise on menstrual health. Shivam is a dedicated Plan India volunteer and #PeriodWarrior! He breaks menstrual taboos for awareness among both men and women. Growing up, Shivam faced silence whenever he asked about periods. His curiosity led him to join Plan India, where later on he became a peer educator through the Menstrual Health Education Project. Now, he’s fostering open conversations and building a supportive community. His efforts have successfully brought on 50 more volunteers who are now joining forces to educate many more people on the same important cause Plan India works with peer educators like Shivam, emphasizing that involving more men and boys and creating an environment where it's okay to talk about it openly is crucial. Meet our next 'Period Warriors'! Mr. Santosh KR. Soni, a dedicated father from Jharkhand, who is breaking the taboos surrounding menstruation. Through Plan India's initiative, Santosh has been actively involved in community discussions in rural settings in Jharkhand although earlier the situation was not the same. Now he leads the discussions and has addressed stereotypes, stigmas, and myths surrounding menstruation, fostering group cohesiveness and shedding light on menstrual health issues.
