Under the NDDB-Sustain Plus Manure Management initiative, during the Women Farmer Day Celebration in Mada Village, Dungarpur, Rajasthan, organized by JSVS-PEDO, Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman, NDDB, facilitated payments to 120 women farmers for carbon credits from household biogas plants. A key highlight was that 94 farmers received payments in Digital Rupee (e₹), India's Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), marking its first use for carbon credit transactions. Punjab National Bank led this pilot initiative, with executives Sh. Shyam Sundar Singh (GM, ZO: Jaipur), Sh. Surendra Kumar Vishwakarma (DGM, CO: Udaipur) and Sh. Vipul Verma (AGM, HO: DBTD) present at the event. Dr. Shah emphasized NDDB’s commitment to sustainability, empowering women and integrating carbon finance with rural livelihoods. PNB also showcased financial and digital products for farmers. The event, attended by executives from NDDB, RBI, PNB, NPCI and over 2,000 farmers, demonstrated a scalable model for climate-resilient dairy development in India.
