This September 6th marks more than just the anniversary of Reading Down of Section 377—it symbolizes a new era of rights and recognition for the LGBTQ+ community. This year, we’re witnessing change in action: 🏳️🌈 Changes in Ration Card Rules: Queer partners will be recognized as part of the same household. 🏳️🌈 Enabling Financial Inclusion: LGBTQ+ individuals can now open joint accounts and nominate partners for benefits. 🏳️🌈 Healthcare Rights: Gender affirmation surgery access, prohibition of conversion therapy, and teleconsultation are being prioritized with staff sensitization. 🏳️🌈 Claiming Partner’s Body: Provisions allow LGBTQ+ individuals to claim deceased partners' bodies when next of kin is unavailable. 🏳️🌈 Medical Guidelines for Intersex: Clear medical protocols for intersex children are being implemented. 🏳️🌈 Mental Health: Guidelines focusing on mental health and well-being for the queer community are underway. 🏳️🌈 Prison Visitation: Queer individuals now have protected visitation rights in prisons. 🏳️🌈 Law and Order: Anti-violence and anti-harassment measures are being put in place to safeguard the community. 🏳️🌈 Victory for Advocacy: In August, the NMC curriculum labeled homosexual acts as unnatural offences, but after strong advocacy from the Queer community and Allies, it was withdrawn on September 5th 2024. 🏳️🌈 Stakeholder Consultations: Input from the LGBTQIA+ community is helping shape inclusive government policies. These are strides forward, yet the journey continues. Today, we celebrate progress — driven by the strength of the queer community and the unwavering support of allies— and push for a more equitable tomorrow. #ReLink #TowardsInclusion #LGBTQplus #India #LGBTQRights Image Credit: Hindustan Times

Do you apsire for a workplace like this? 💎 A manager who supports your needs as a working parent. 💎 Team meetings where new ideas are encouraged. 💎 A culture where everyone feels their voice is heard and respected. 💎 An office with accessible infrastructure. 💎 Equal opportunities regardless of one’s identity. This is what an inclusive experience feels like. Most of us wish to work in a place that offers such experiences. But it cannot be left just to one department or persons to drive it. When all employees participate, it paves the way for a great workplace. And it can with simple actions and behaviours, which are not complicated at all. Here’s are some inclusive habits that every individual can easily adopt. https://lnkd.in/dbhQEMNN. Which inclusive habit would you like to add here? #ReLink #TowardsInclusion #InclusiveHabits #Workplace

In a powerful move aligning with #DisabilityPrideMonth. On July 8, the Supreme Court issued groundbreaking guidelines to prevent stereotyping and discrimination against persons with disabilities (PwDs) in visual media, including films and documentaries. The Court drew a crucial distinction between "disabling humour," which demeans PwDs, and "disability humour," which fosters understanding and insight. This landmark judgement marks a pivotal shift from the outdated medical model that views disability as a personal tragedy to the modern social model that recognises disabilities as products of societal barriers. Can trust and safety be built in an hour. Probably not! As we enter the latter part of #PrideMonth, a common pitfall emerges: "Expecting #LGBTQ+ employees to come out of the closet after a short workshop." Creating an inclusive culture requires ongoing effort and genuine commitment. Watch this video as we explore reasons why LGBTQ+ members may choose to stay in the closet even after few interventions. #ReLink #TowardsInclusion #LGBTQplus #Pride2024 #LGBTQSensitisation #Workshop #ComingOut
