This Diwali, we are redefining the spirit of giving! Through the “Diwali Pe, Jagah Bana” campaign, Radio City India and ReCircle invited Mumbaikars to declutter for a cause by donating unused items like clothes, toys, and electronics. We aim to collect 40,000 kg of dry waste, addressing both the surge in waste during Diwali and the needs of those in need. This initiative reached the hearts and homes of all Mumbaikars across the city, championing a city-wide movement for change while honouring Diwali traditions. The collected items will support St. Catherine of Siena School and Orphanage Home, enhancing resources for underprivileged children. Registrations have closed, and we are eager to share the impactful results of this campaign soon. A big thank you to everyone who participated. Together, we've made a significant difference this Diwali. We thank Mumbai News Network for the feature. To see a world where no resources are wasted, by pursuing and promoting ethical circularity.
About us
Is our trash someone else’s problem? This is exactly the mindset clean-tech innovators, Rahul Nainani & Gurashish Singh Sahni set out to change when they launched ReCircle in 2016. Since inception, we have grown tremendously, both in scope and scale, having diverted over 169,000 MT (equivalent to the weight of 28,166 elephants) of waste across 270 cities & towns in India with the help of 45+ processing partners who have a pan-India network of 400 collection partners all while impacting the lives and livelihoods of over 3,100 Safai Saathis (waste workers). We empower consumers and brands to divert waste away from landfills and oceans, back into the economy to be recycled, reused or repurposed. With consumers; We organise monthly dry waste collection drives in Mumbai. The collected waste is sent to our advanced material recovery facility in Dahisar. For businesses; At the heart of our traceable & ethical reverse supply chain, lies ClimaOne which offers end to end traceability for plastic credits, reporting for compliance, live data tracking, etc. to brand owners who want to go plastic neutral & use recycled plastic in their supply chain. Progressive brands such as HUL, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, etc. choose us for their Extended Producer Responsibility needs, launching plastic neutral initiatives, establishing zero waste workspaces, orchestrating zero waste events & driving impactful sustainability projects. Having established circularity for plastic waste, we plan to work with new waste streams such as textiles, paper & glass. We’re innovating to digitise the waste supply chain, create meaningful opportunities for informal waste workers, build a closed-loop system to extend the life cycle of ‘waste’ & empower India to move towards a circular future — one piece of trash at a time. Backed by: Flipkart Ventures, 3i Partners, Acumen Fund Inc. Supported by: UNDP, Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW), GSMA, UK AID, Acumen Academy and DBS Foundation,

Diwali always brings along cheer, but there is something truly special about watching an entire city step up to take up their zimmedari. Mumbai continues to show us exactly why it's built differently. As we sat down for our Diwali pooja today, we couldn't help but think about how far we've come. The team just wrapped up Mumbai's Largest Diwali Dry Waste Collection Drive, our fourth year in a row, and the counting has begun—from old newspapers to defunct laptops, from worn-out clothes to metal scraps, you brought it all. To everyone who chose action over words: you're the reason we do what we do. Happy Diwali, ReCircle Fam! Keep shining bright and recycling right! 💫 Here's to more light, less waste, and a spectacular year ahead! #ReCircle #HappyDiwali #Diwali2024 #SustainableChoices #GreenDiwali #ConsciousChoices

As Diwali approaches, it’s a time for renewal, reflection, and responsible action. Through the “Diwali Pe, Jagah Bana” campaign, Radio City India and ReCircle are encouraging Mumbaikars to turn the spirit of decluttering into a real community contribution. This initiative calls on the city to declutter and donate unused items into resources for underserved communities while protecting our environment. Together, our goal is ambitious yet essential. We aim to collect and responsibly divert 40,000 kg of substantial dry waste from our landfills and oceans and turn our “extras” into essentials for those who need them most. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the festival sustainably, mindful of the social and environmental impact we can make by simply giving a little more. Diwali is about filling hearts with joy, and this campaign is all about creating space, sharing warmth, and cultivating sustainability. A big thanks to Medianews4u.com for highlighting this mission to drive community impact! The registrations are now closed. We’ll be sharing the full impact of this drive soon, and we couldn’t have done it without your generous contributions. Thank you, Mumbai! With only 3 days left to register, we invite offices, communities, and households across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to take an active role in sustainable practices. Whether it's paper, plastic, e-waste, or old clothes, every contribution helps build a cleaner environment. Want to get involved? Register at https://recircle.in/diwali and let’s build a more sustainable Mumbai. Special thanks to Radio City India and RJ Salil for highlighting our efforts!

As we commemorate UN Day, it's important to recognize the critical role the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) play in shaping a sustainable and equitable future. These 17 global goals are more than just targets they are a roadmap for addressing the world's most pressing challenges, from ending poverty and hunger to combating climate change and preserving our planet's resources. At ReCircle, we understand that the responsibility to achieve these goals doesn't rest solely with governments—it requires the active participation of individuals, businesses, and organizations. By aligning our initiatives with key SDGs, we are working to create a circular economy that not only reduces waste but also promotes responsible consumption, supports livelihoods, and protects our environment. Our commitment to the SDGs is evident in everything we do, from improving waste management systems in urban communities to promoting responsible production practices. However, the impact we aim to achieve cannot happen in isolation- -it requires a collective effort. For businesses, supporting the SDGs is not just a moral obligation; it's a strategic move. Companies that integrate these goals into their operations are better positioned to innovate, build resilience, and drive long-term growth. By partnering with ReCircle, businesses can contribute to a more sustainable world while enhancing their brand's credibility and meeting consumer demands for environmental responsibility. In a world grappling with waste, ReCircle is rewriting the narrative of waste management with a singular mission to transform the circular economy. Our CEO, Rahul Nainani, recently highlighted how we’ve been building a robust ecosystem over the last eight years with a diverse range of stakeholders; from brands to Safai Saathis (informal waste workers), to implement transparency and traceability across the waste supply chain. Innovations like ClimaOne- our traceability tool for plastic credits, and Project Extra Life- for tackling textile waste, reflect our focus on end-to-end transparency and circular solutions. This year, we’re excited to take forward integration steps with our PET recycling plant, enabling us to close the loop on plastics and help businesses integrate recycled materials into their supply chains. ReCircle’s impact extends far beyond numbers- we’ve successfully diverted over 169,000 MT of waste from landfills and improved the lives of over 3,100 Safai Saathis, formalising their roles and increasing livelihood opportunities. In the heart of Mumbai’s waste management ecosystem are ReCircle’s unsung heroes - Safai Saathis, working diligently and tirelessly with their invisible strength to keep the city clean. At ReCircle, we are honoured to be part of an initiative that truly makes a difference towards our Safai Saathis. Through Project Utthaan, a success partnership between Hindustan Unilever (HUL) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP), thousands of Mumbai’s Safai Saathis are gaining access to life-altering government schemes like e-Shram, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) that bring a more dignified and secure life for the real heroes of waste management alongside operational efficiency. Workers like Geeta Ahire and Babloo Rao now carry e-Shram cards that give them and their families a safety net. We've also taken another step forward by upgrading our Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Dahisar. This semi-automated facility allows us to process waste more efficiently while enhancing the livelihoods of these essential workers, offering them the security and recognition they deserve. Our heartfelt thanks to The Times Of India for highlighting the strides being made to support our waste workers in this essential story.
